When I had my roof done, I paid for my shingles myself. When the roofer was done and I was sure all his men had been paid even though he gave me written assurances that they were paid, then I paid him for his labor. So he had to pay his subs out of his own pocket so he was sure to get my job done in a timely manner. Said I was the first person to ever make him do it that way. Told him my momma didnt raise no dummy.

we have been having issues with merchandising departments not maintaining their POs properly (which causes issues for us because it delays the process of goods being received in the warehouses), and I have ZERO issue with being the bad guy to get my work done. I have gone to directors when I don't get a timely response on PO issues, and you know what? The shit gets done.

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

It's clear paying up front was a mistake. What's the standard way of doing things when hiring a contractor to do work for you? For example, if you hire someone to retile your bathroom? Do you pay half up front and half when the job is done? Or do you pay all of it after the work is complete? I don't think we have ny legal recourse. Legal would laugh in our faces for such a little amount, about $2000.00. I may talk to my boss about it, but I hate bugging her with stuff. Definitely speak to your superior, Phoenix. I understand not wanting to bother her, but I can assure you I'd much rather people bother me with stuff before the stuff becomes a crisis. I hate ugly surprises, and I'll bet your boss does, as well.

Okay, I got it at the 11th hour. Like literally at the last possible second. I got it at 4:00 on the day before the meeting was scheduled.
The data is good, but the writing is sloppy. It's clear he did a rush job on it. Now I'm going to have to go back and fix all his mistakes, but at least it's done.
I had my boss send him an e-mail. She worded things quite well. She was threatening without overdoing it, basically saying "we don't want our contractual relations to suffer." Anyways, it was a good learning experience for me, I guess that's why she's the boss.

Is it "technically acceptable" per the terms of the purchase order? I'm guessing barely so.
But remember, contractors save money (even though they cost more, and don't always deliver).
