I just bought the first 5 ETFs I looked at because it is too hard to decide. I got the following, 500 shares of each. It this a bad choice, if so should I cancel since they won't fill the orders until Tuesday? If I get them and don't like them can I sell them without a fee? I never had a ETF before but couldn't decide on a mutual fund or stock I didn't already have and had too much in money market. schx schb schd schg schv

Not getting into the timing question .... just the selection query. As far as that goes ... Way too much overlap. svhx, schb, schg, schv have tremendous overlap. I understand the selection on schd as that increases your dividend play even though those 100 stocks are within the other 4 ETFs as well. My suggestion is: SPY & SCHD. DCA into SPY -- 1/4 each week in September. All into SCHD. You decide what % of your portfolio you want in each bucket. If you want to avoid the $8.95 brokerage fee for SPY & your account is at Schwab, then SCHX + SCHD is a viable option as there isn't a charge to buy or sell Schwab ETFs within a Schwab account Finally, don't think 'shares,' think % of account

SDIV - Global Dividend Play PFF - Preferred Stock Play PCEF - Closed End Fund Play KBWY - REIT Play MDY - Mid-Cap Play DIA - DOW 30 Play AMLP - Master Limited Partnership Play {NO K-1's} KBWD - Dividend Play (More "local")
SDIV - PFF - PCEF - DIA - KBWY - KBWD --- Pay Monthly (Ordinary)
AMLP - MDY -- Pay Quarterly (Think these do go "qualified")
% of account decent idea -- Better Idea we think = Defined upfront $ per fund.
Defined $ amount per fund = how ever many shares that amount will buy. Reinvests, equal $ across the board.
Just our 2 cents.
