The bottom line to this entire argument is that those who wish to prevent gay marriage do so simply because they don't like it. It poses no danger to society, it is not violent, there are no victims, and the arguments against it are unilaterally fallacious or disingenuous. What's more, allowing them to marry in no way diminishes straight marriage. There simply is no good reason to deny them the privilege aside from the fact that some people might find it offensive.
You're right, it probably was.
Why not? Why does marriage have to only describe a union between male and female? What universal law of physics prevents us from changing it? How will straight marriages be affected if we do?
While I do believe in the democratic process, I also believe in protecting the rights of minorities from the tyranny of the majority. This is where the old saying, "two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner" comes into play. We have a judicial branch of government for a reason, and we don't get to vote on the outcome of every case. In fact, Prop 8 should never have been voted on in the first place.
I taught US history to 7th graders for a time, and we once voted on referendums that the kids were allowed to write themselves. If those referendums had been implemented, there would be no homework, nothing but deserts would be served in the cafeteria, they'd only go to school 3 days per week and only for half a day, summer vacation would stretch from April to October, every Friday would be party day, dress codes would be abolished, among other amusing if predictable decrees.
Democracy rules, yes? But in this case, you can clearly see how the democratic process allowed these kids to vote against their own interests and the interests of society in general. As the teacher, of course, I was allowed to "overturn" their decisions because I had the authority to interpret their referendums in terms of the "big picture," rather than based on what feels good at the time.
Adults are just the same, and I would hate to think of how many irritating yet necessary facets of our society would be voted into extinction simply because the voters didn't like them or because getting rid of them would save them some nickels every paycheck.
This is why we have a representative democracy, and why we agree to having one. Prop 8 should not have been voted on to begin with, so I have no problems with it being overturned.

Sure. Everything in your second paragraph is wrong. Yes, everything. The odd woman has excelled at most anything throughout history, nothing has changed there. quite frankly, given that you've insulted me and my fellow highly educated females on this board as being freaks of nature, I don't think I have anything else to say to you. you continue to show your narrow-mindedness, as I expected you would, and I am now done trying to understand where you derive your opinions. I no longer care.

Dear Ms. chiver78, I have dissected my post which you have taken offense to and I believe the main problem was the word "odd". The women I referred to are not "freaks of nature", just in the minority when compared to men. We could go on for days about the reasons for this but it is the reality. I wish to debate with you more on any issue and please accept my sincere apology.

Should burnsattornincan decide to change his name to Fiscan that would be fine as long as it with the same account.
No problem at all.

Not saying any one doing wrong here Florida, in fact didn't even think of that to be honest..I am thinking same person, but more in a annoying way, to me only I guess, but possible not, because of the one NIC rule so in that casse , apologize , guess it is two people. It was just annoying to me , a personal thing, thinking same playing two roles, but if two people, different story.

It seems that the government has its hands in way to many things that should be a personal choice having nothing to do with the government. True love is hard to find and if you happen to find it with a person of the same sex far be it from me to say that they should not get married.

Now that is quite the paradox. What does my name have to do with fiscan? Well, I have represented him before, and am now and will most probably do so in the future. Anything you conjure beyond that is your own interpretation.
