Sure to piss off plenty of 'people': www.nbcnews.com/business/wal-mart-expands-health-benefits-domestic-partners-8C11018274 NEW YORK -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will extend its health care benefits to its U.S. workers' domestic partners, including those of the same sex, starting Jan. 1. The nation's largest private employer, which has been a target of attacks by labor groups for what they criticize are skimpy wages and benefits, said Tuesday that the changes were made so it could have one uniform policy for all 50 states at a time when some states have their own definitions of what constitutes domestic partnerships and civil unions. Employees can enroll their domestic partners from Oct. 12 through Nov. 1. How dare they embrace fairness!

this is pretty much MEANINGLESS for 98-99% of Walmart employees. ONLY FT (over 24 or 30 hr/week) qualify for insurance. Everyone else is SOL.

I thought Haliburton, Chevron and Exxon Mobil shared the "worst company on the planet" award.

Geez, you lefties have to keep your arguments straight!

Halliburton, which supplies oil field services and supplies is bad why? Is it the evil oil company thing, AGW faith thingy, successful business model ? I'm stymied here (let me have it, I used to be what EVT would call a "weapons profiteer" so I'm richly deserving of the abuse).

Geez, you lefties have to keep your arguments straight! It can be shitty and be fair- so now their shitty insurance is fairly shitty. Not that it matters much- every taxpayer sends a portion of their cash directly to Wal-Mart to enrich further the owners by subsidizing their workforce. Hence the previous worst company, and now I guess second worst company title.

when they work for the govt, they don't deliver. not enough due diligence(people got killed) they overcharge. their relationship with blackwater.
i don't know what their rep is in the oil industry, except that they were sued over the gulf oil spill.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad all those gay Walmart employees who have a domestic partner that qualifies, will no longer have to suffer unfairness. Two men, and one woman will be celebrating now! Whoooo!!!
