According to the commercial a shot of 5 Hour Energy is the answer! All the office workers are zombies in the first few seconds, then they perk right up for hours after they have their little drink! Ugh - SO annoying. For me, it does matter what I have for lunch: nothing heavy, no sugar, etc. but it also helps to have ICE cold water or hot green tea, depending on the season. I don't rely on caffiene or sugar in the afternoons because I go straight to the gym after work and that just causes a crash. Initially, it's super hard, but I just go through the motions: get changed, get to the gym, get on my machine of choice and get going. THAT is what helps my afternoon slump. I have tons of energy afterwards, too, but I know that's not realistic for most people. (I get to work as early as 6:45 AM, so I can be at the gym by 3:30 PM or so.) On the otherhand, I think an afternoon siesta should be mandatory!

Well, the face plant will hurt, but if you just gently put your head down on your desk and close your eyes for a 20 minute power nap you should be good to go for the rest of the day.

I find that eating just one lunch doesn't work for me. If I eat enough so I'm not starving by the end of the day, then I'll be a zombie after lunch. If I eat little enough so I'm not a zombie, I'm starving by 3. So I eat two very small lunches, one about 3 hours after arriving, and another 2-3 hours later. And I keep both of them high protein low starch.
