SYG Strikes Another Criminal Dead

In Cook County, IL- and a lot of other places- the driver would be arrested.  Thank goodness Florida treats criminals like they should be treated, and treats innocent citizens with the dignity and respect they deserve:

No offense Paul but I think this would be an open-and-shut self defense case in any part of the nation, including Chicago. Unless you can point to similar circumstances where somebody in your neck of the woods went to jail for defending themselves against a knife-wielding attacker trying to kill them, I'm quite skeptical.

The main problem with SYG is that encourages people to say shoot someone because their music is too loud, or encourages two guys in your regular drunken argument outside a bar to escalate things and use deadly force. Even the most liberal enclaves allow you to defend yourself in a life-or-death situation.

This was a hate-based racist act by the shooter and all guns should be banned!  Nobody deserves to die for attempted robbery.  The guy with the knife was just a misguided soul that had a troubled childhood, blah, blah, blah. 

The fact he had a "lengthy rap sheet includes armed robbery, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment," should NOT be considered relevant.

In Chicago, law abiding citizens are not permitted to carry guns.  Illinois' last of the union concealed carry law is still not in effect.

a woman can off her abusive husband under the right circumstances as well, knife or not.

And that can be OK- I do not think anyone has a problem with self-defense.  Violent criminals deserve what they get and I have no sympathy for them- if they end up shot- oh well.  But to post this as an in-cognito defense of Zimmerman and the bullshit law is a joke. 

According to the law's supporters some prosecutor would have went after this guy until SYG saved the day- anyone with a brain buy that?  Know why there was no immunity hearing?  BECAUSE GD PROSECUTORS DO NOT PROSECUTE OBVIOUS SELF DEFENSE CASES.

SYG is used 99% of the time to prevent prosecution of criminals.   FACT.  (only in FL though).  We have the same type of law here- but never have incidents like FL- why?- because when you assert self-defense here you have to prove it.  FL- just make the claim and you are 99% home free.

My favorite carry weapon only has five rounds.  They are .38 hollowpoints, though.  I seriously doubt I'll need to re-load.

Sure Corey could have saved the state money- know what else would save the state money?  Not prosecutiing people for murder- that should free up some prison space as well.  Maybe your legislature could look into it.  New FL motto-  Gun Crime=No Time.

Or, how about not bringing a case to trial where Angela Corey not only didn't have any evidence, but felt she needed to- in violation of the law and of ethics- leave out exculpatory evidence?  A case she knew- or should have known- she would lose; and that is something she knew would cost the taxpayers of Florida a lot of money.  BTW- that mess is by no means over.  This is the first of several lawsuits that are still pending.  MSNBC still faces significant civil liability- and many end up with a settlement that covers the entire Zimmerman defense, plus punitive damages.

Not prosecuting would send a terrible message to other cop wannabes and/or vigilante types.

But since you feel there was no evidence- please explain why the defense didn't just ask for the immunity hearing and avoid a trial- should have been a cakewalk with no evidence and all

MSNBC isn't going to end up paying shit- maybe a small token nuisance settlement to make him go away.  They must not teach defamation law at the PBP school of law.  But take a guess anyway- how was he damaged by MSNBC?  How are you going to show that his reputation was damaged when his entire case was public knowledge?  He pretty much ruined his reputation by his acts- and anyone is free to comment on that- at that point he is a public figure.  Fox lies about people all day and twists facts- so what?  MSNBC can't screw up an edit- and if they in fact did- how are you going to prove it was intentional and with malice?
