Does Google calendars merge well with outlook? Another scheduling mishap this weekend has me in search of a better system. Dh and I need to be able to share our personal calendars with each other, and I need to be able to see my work calendar so I can tell what office I'll be at, or if I have appointments when I'm scheduling appointments for me and the kids.
I'd really like to be able to categorize things on the calendars too so I can print a paper version for the house but only print certain types of activities (ie, I put our paydays on the calendar so I can work out cash flow, but that doesn't need to be printed every week. But do need to know whose watching the baby and picking up ds from preschool so I can tell if we have a coverage hole).
So is this Google calendars or another app?

I can't wait to hear this answer. The thing I like about Google calendars is that we can each keep our own, and I can look at just mine, or all of ours together. But, I don't have my work calendar in the mix, so it is still a PIA. I was wondering if I can get them all merged together, without keeping every soccer game on my work calendar.

Hmmm.... for me Hotmail has switch to Outlook. I didn't want to mix my personal and work calendars together. however now after reading your situation - I can see / understand the need to merge.
so I would have to take my cell and connect it to my work pc and then it auto populates on my cell. then every 10 minutes it auto populates in my Hotmail calendar.

I just read that link, and it didn't help me understand at all. I guess I'm an old lady.

So I think the link means that I can view google calendars through outlook, but only if I set up a new outlook profile, and is need access to google business or the education software. So I don't think that will work.
Maybe hotmail would though since it uses outlook? So we'd need to create hotmail profiles and set up our personal calendars there.
Thyme-I like the idea of setting up a calendar for the kids. I'd be managing it for some time obviously, but that would let me pull out just their schedules and activities, and also just share that with the people who help us get the kids to and from.

Have you looked at the Cozi family calendar? I think it can import Outlook, Google and other calendars. I have the free version on my phone but haven't played around with it much yet.

Cozi looks good. I'm going to play around with the free version a bit. I like the shopping list feature too.
