New feature added. Skins, too!

Hi all. I have added a new plugin I think some of you may like. It will allow members to lock their own threads. I've tried out it under my "regular member" test account to see how it works, and it seems to do what it should. According to the plugin author:

This will allow members to lock their own threads.

If the current member is viewing a thread, a new option on the "actions" drop down will appear named "Creator Lock". When clicked this will lock the thread. Similarly, if the thread is locked (by use of creator lock) then a "Creator Unlock" option will appear that allows the thread creator to unlock their thread.

Threads locked with Creator Lock will have all the appearances of being locked. The locked icon will show up on the top of the page while viewing the thread, and the quick reply will be removed for non-staff members.

Mods can unlock and lock all threads using creator lock, and the normal moderation "lock" option is still available.

Please note that if a thread is locked using the built in (ProBoards) lock system then only mods can unlock it. This just adds an alternative locking system so non-mods can lock their own threads.

When viewing the thread listing page. Threads that are locked by the thread creator will have "locked" in bold italics in front of the name.

I've also added 3 new skins. You can preview them in this thread .

Thank You, I never needed it but I do know some wanted to do that with their own threads.

It's a good option when someone's thread has served its purpose - or if it's gone so far off-topic or if the discussion has been resolved, etc. they no longer want to discuss it or keep the thread open.

And they also don't have to wait for us to do it! They'll still have to ask for thread deletions, of course, but this will give the means to prevent further posting in the meantime.

I can think of multiple ways this can go awry. Then again, I don't really see the purpose of locking a thread unless it has gotten ugly, including people intentionally saying hurtful things to or about the OP.  

I don't mean to be Debbie Downer. I sincerely appreciate moon's efforts in regards to this message board. That's why I have reservations about the new feature. I don't want us to become an even bigger thorn in her side because of it.

The new feature moonbeam has installed has nothing to do with old threads/posts, Pink. It has to do with new people applying for membership on the forum. It's something that won't have any effect on those who are already here. Just a way for us to sort those who really want to be contributing members from those who we know to be otherwise.

LOL! No I didn't. Moon's test post was from today and I didn't realize everything else was old. Silly Pink!
