I've installed a plugin that will allow members to lock their own threads. Using this thread under my "regular member" test account to see how it works. If it works as it should, there will be an option in the ACTION drop down to do it. According to the plugin author:

This will allow members to lock their own threads.

If the current member is viewing a thread, a new option on the "actions" drop down will appear named "Creator Lock". When clicked this will lock the thread. Similarly, if the thread is locked (by use of creator lock) then a "Creator Unlock" option will appear that allows the thread creator to unlock their thread.

Threads locked with Creator Lock will have all the appearances of being locked. The locked icon will show up on the top of the page while viewing the thread, and the quick reply will be removed for non-staff members.

Mods can unlock and lock all threads using creator lock, and the normal moderation "lock" option is still available.

Please note that if a thread is locked using the built in (ProBoards) lock system then only mods can unlock it. This just adds an alternative locking system so non-mods can lock their own threads.

When viewing the thread listing page. Threads that are locked by the thread creator will have "locked" in bold italics in front of the name.

OK.. i see the creator lock in the action menu. let's try it out.

Looks like threads locked by the thread creator will have [{locked behind the thread title, in neither bold, nor italics.
