Sure is, people come from all over the world to visit our natural wonders. When I was at the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago, I heard more people speaking other languages than I heard people speaking english.
Seems a lot of people think you have to go across the world to see something truely spectacular, when you can see many spectacular things domestically.

That's a beautiful photo Anne! Is that Joshua Tree Monument? Make all the posters here jealous and post a couple of photos of Crater Lake and Mt. Hood. BTW Have you read "Wild" yet? I've got the germ of an idea of hiking a section of the PCT. Nothing as ambitious as the author's trip but I'm thinking 300 miles in 30 days.

Beautiful pics!
Bonny, I have a similar dream/thought of hiking the Appalachian Trail end to end some day.

Bonny - I'm not sure where it is. I'm on the waiting list at the library for "Wild" per my new resolution to stop buying so many books!

It sure is! I cried the first time I saw the west coast ... I couldn't have imagined such vistas, being from NY.
Bonny I had the same thought! I haven't read it yet but I'm planning to. I'm a bit too far from there though LOL.
Anne, you know we went to Crater Lake last summer. It is indeed achingly beautiful but the trail up from the lake is very steep. If you go with your DS and want to walk down to the lake, you probably need to wait till he is older.
