It was on TV last night, and I stayed up late watching it, even though I was totally exhausted from not sleeping for days.
I love the ridiculousness of that movie, and how they embraced it. I love how they use all the movie stereotypes about time travel, and make no apologies for it. It has the rare quality of being funny all the way through, and actually being able to support some sort of plot.
Ridiculous movies are just as hard to pull off as dramatic movies - maybe even harder. Everyone can cry watching someone die of slowly of cancer and leave behind their beautiful children. But, to make someone laugh for 90 minutes on end - that is a special skill.
What is your favorite ridiculous movie?

Oh - I also saw "This is the End" - again, SO ridiculous, and it was great!

I liked Idiocracy. I felt they did a good job sticking to the theme throughout the movie.

Blazing Saddles.
39 years later and it is still horribly politically incorrect, gross, full of stilted stereotypes - and outrageously funny.

Best ever ridiculous movie - and a constant laugh from beginning to end for me definitely was "Blazing Saddles". Mel Brooks broke every rule making that movie - and the whole thing was hysterical (and cheesy) from the opening to closing credits - with its off-color and bad-taste humor - it was a spoof of Westerns with some not-so-well veiled sexual innuendo and black humor (for when it was made - almost 40 yrs now - 1974) . Loved it! - and still watch it any chance I get. Only Mel Brooks could pull that off. And that movie's still going strong. .
