Collecting owls made of shells, frogs made of ceramic or lawn gnomes made of anything — really, really anything.
Playing basketball in high heels.
Throwing a wet T-shirt contest. Throwing a wet nightshirt contest.
Getting publicly and verbally excited about the number of stamps in your passport, zeroes in your paycheck, capital letters before or after your name (unless they're H.R.H.), number of names on your phone-favorites list, number of people you could have married, the size of your acreage … or the size of your anything else.

Well I have only been 50 for  1 1/2 months and haven't done any of them.

Actually only have done 1 before I was 50 - jello shots.....

Count me as another one who's never done a Jello shot. I was on a business trip and watched my coworkers do them in a New Orleans bar. Then they followed them up with something called "test tube shots." Mind you, we all had to make an early-morning flight back home. I skipped the imbibing, left the bar, went back to the hotel and relaxed. Got up early the next morning, went running, got ready and got myself down to the lobby on time, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

My coworkers did not look so good. In fact, they ranged from frazzled around the edges to seriously green at the gills. Good thing it was two short flights. There is nothing fun about sitting next to a hungover person on a plane.

I can not recall if I've ever had a Jello shot.  I can't remember all the fruity and alcoholic concoctions I've had over the years, but it'll just be us "kids" (plus DS) for 4th of July, so maybe we'll make some.

The last time I did jello shots...well let us just say that Goose almost disowned me.  Maybe it was because I followed the jello shots with Patron shots....  It was BAD.  Needless to say I stay away from both now.

Same here, but I've got a 60-year old face so I think I'll stay out of those contests anyway.

I'm not into most of the stuff on the list, especially drinking to excess, but yes, I AM publicly excited about the number of stamps in my passport. Fortunately, I did not get any of them on an Extreme Bingo cruise.

The best jello shots I've ever had were made by my mom's friend, who is over 50.  They were multi-layered and she used fruit juices and flavored vodka- delicious!  I think if you add too much vodka the jello won't set, so they're less dangerous than they sound. 

I briefly thought about making the lemon-blackberry ones in the photo above, but they involve way too much work!

We didn't do Jello shots in Key West, but the resort we stayed at (waldorf, looked nice, was nice, but not worth the $$) had an absinthe bar, so DH did that....

I went to a party at the wealthy neighbors this weekend. They had more of an alcohol selection than most bars I've been to. . I had a PUDDING shot for the first time ever. It was good! There were plenty of jello shots there too, but I did not partake...lol

a few months back, the "group" decided to have a real fun night (at least it sounded like fun)

btw the group consists of about 24 people ranging from low 30's to me (the old man)

we rented out the laser tag place from 11pm friday to 6 am saturday

one of the guys is the local karaoke dj....and he brought in his equipment

and then we a small bar setup.....mostly shots and beer

i had muscles hurt the next day that i didnt even know existed

maybe 20 years ago this would have been a good idea.....

but at 52.....i was one hurting puppy on saturday

took me a few days to recover.....but it is a night i wont soon forget

my wife laughed her ass off as i hobbled around....telling me "i told you"

she of course, had more common sense......

  Well, you can't win.  If you give in to age and act your age and look your age, then you are told you should try to look younger, dress younger, act younger, complete your Bucket list, blah, blah.  If you are older and try to dress younger and act younger and look younger you are still WRONG.  So, what the heck?  Just do whatever you please and to HECK with anyone who doesn't like it.  If it want to do Jello shots it is nobody's dang business.  If i want to spend my days playing watching reruns of Judge Judy and playing Bingo it is nobody's dang business.  By the time you are 50 you shouldn't give a rat's arse what anyone else thinks you "should or shouldn't " be doing.
