We're headed home tomorrow to our Coastal SF Bay Area town which will probably hit in the 80s. Here at the cabin it will probably reach just under 100 which is very unusual. But our summer tenants who live in Palm Desert will be doing the Happy Dance to come up to the cabin since their home in Palm Desert is currently 117 and may head up to 120. Nearby Death Valley is supposed to reach 130 nearly matching its record 134 back in 1913. Yeah, it's a dry heat but...

Supposed to be about 80 out here in SoCal along the coast but that means the beaches will be slammed with people coming from inland to escape the 90+ degree heat. Friends heading out to Vegas get to enjoy what's supposed to be 115-117 through Sunday.
Edit - heard on the way home there's actually warnings about 100+ inland and highs of 85 here. Definitely feels like summer. Supposed to cool down during the week and if the forecast stays true the 4th will be perfect at about 72.

DH is from Phoenix, and he was talking to old friends today. It's been above 100 forever, and it just gets hotter and hotter.
Our heat is humid, but at least you can breathe in it. We are in the 90s, but rain cools it off.

We are in the 90s, but rain cools it off. I turned back into a Coastal weather wimp after relocating from the greater Phoenix area first to Germany and then back to the Bay Area. Believe me there will be plenty of whining about the heat when we get home. The last time I remember it being in the 80s was about 10 years ago just as we were relocating to the Phoenix area. Remember we're used to having to turn our heat on during our foggy summers!

Like inhaling bacon and bean soup through your nose.

Triple digit temps mean that you're supposed to pull up some shade and crack a cold one. Triple digits ain't working weather!

Our (Alabama) rains do tend to be intense. They are usually thunderstorms, not just a rain shower. I would sometimes prefer a rain shower, but we get what we get.
So they pretty much always cool stuff off. It was pretty miserable today so I'm ready for another. I also increased the line item for utilities to $300 because it is way too hot. DH was startled that I turned on the a/c at 9 a.m. today. We usually wait until 11 or 12. We cut it off before going to bed.
It is a HOT summer everywhere.
I couldn't breathe when I went to Phoenix to visit DH. I could barely go outside. Here we can go out, but you want to find shade as soon as possible. DH was hanging out in the carport because he started smoking an occasional Swisher Sweet. That's a different gripe, though.

I have no problem with our humidity. Over the years I have developed gills for breathing underwater

The Weather Channel app on my phone shows the high for tomorrow at 105. We're in the Houston area and the humidity just makes it unbearable. Give me dry heat any day over this (or no heat at all, if we're wishing). Our AC is on all day at a more reasonable temperature, and cooler at night.

Yup.. I'm just a couple of miles from Palm Desert... it's freaking hot... It's enough to drive you to drink! I guess I didn't realize how close you are. Our cabin is in IDY.

Did you get any of the hail? I sure wasn't expecting that given how it was blasting when I went out in the morning.

Naw, FIL bought this place in 1990. He taught sailplane lessons in Hemet. And who really wants to live in Hemet? Although it really doesn't make any sense financially for us to keep it, we have so many good memories here. And we have a reputation to uphold. This was the spot for the geriatric cocktail hour!

Yeah, it's a dry heat but...It's dry in my oven too, but I aint getting in there... Apparently it's monsoon season in New England. I can tell by the multiple big hair days.

Our highs for the next week are around 75-77. Drive north half an hour and they go up to 105-107. It's important to me to live close to the coast.

[raises hand]
Another CA coastal cities wimp here. I love mild, even, sunny days and temperatures. It's the reason we live here. We normally live in the 60-79 degree range almost all year, and start to complain if it gets over 80. I got home tonight and DH had turned on the A/C. We usually don't even touch it until August or September.
I was in Palm Desert almost a month ago and for a couple of days it registered 110 to 112. Gah, I don't know how people do it.
Stay cool and stay safe, everyone!

Regarding Hemet: I live on the Central Coast and recently saw a post on Craigslist for a permanent houseswap with Hemet - Uh, no, no way, never! lol
I may choose not drink tap water but I prefer to have the choice.

Air conditioner is running already here this morning - powered by the sun via our solar panels I'm not going to cry too much.

Loop's folks are out of town so we're getting the hell out of this heat and crashing at their place on the coast for the weekend. It was 108 here yesterday and is supposed to be a few degrees hotter today.

Dark - JELLY!
PS - hoping the Dark, Loop, et al don't have too much fun! Are the girls still young enough for the boardwalk? As in too young to be interested in the young men there?

Ahhhh back to the Coast in the Beautiful SF Bay Area. High 70s and a perfect sunset into the ocean last night. Sometimes I think I'm the luckiest person on the planet!
