Soooooooooooo !!! Except, DD isn't big into TV so it's "stuff" to keep her occupied when she's not sleeping. Sam_2.0 - So far my DD hasn't stolen a piece of produce yet, but your DD sure did look like a cutie pie holding the tomato and her stuffed animal.

Yeah, I decided I could strangle her in the store or take a pic to use as blackmail later and just let her eat the tomato Of course by the time we got home she was already full & didn't want to eat the "strawbies" she begged me to buy.

anne - I'm glad you made the decision that works for you. If anyone else says anything, well, f* 'em.

I've found it difficult to verbalize the positive effect that preschool has had on DS and our family
That's awesome. It's better to have a happy healthy sane parent than for a parent to be depressed because she's forcing herself to fit what others expect of her. SAHMs as they are now is a very recent phenomenon. My grandmother looks at me like I am nuts when I talk about certain things. Back in her day you did not spend every single second with your child and arranging endless enrichment activities. You locked them outside to play, cleaned the house and got dinner ready.

Your parents didn't tell you to go outside and play on the freeway?

Not on the freeway. Middle of the street maybe.

we talked about baby #2 last night and I said that I would definitely not be on an extended maternity leave again. I am 95% sure I had PPD and I remember feeling like a robot and being extremely resentful that DH "got" to leave and go to work. I practically threw DS at him when he walked in the door. And now DS is almost 2. I love him to pieces, but I can't imagine spending every moment of every waking hour with him and not going batshit insane. Plus, he learns TONS at daycare - and they have the patience to deal with his antics! When I am home with DS and it's just the two of us, he certainly isn't learning - he's usually playing with toys and/or watching one of his baby shows while I do laundry/clean/eat.

Not on the freeway. Middle of the street maybe. When I was really little we lived on a cul-de-sac with a grassy area in the middle. There were only 4 houses, but 2 of them had driveways that were right at the entrance to the circle, and the other people didn't come and go a lot. We used to play in the street all the time. The whole neighborhood would come over and play in the street. Then we moved, and we still played in the street a little, but not as much.
