I was helping the kids with their showers last night, and I had them wash their hair first, DD then does conditioner, and then wash the rest of their body.
DH does it the other way, starts with the bottom, works up, and washes hair last.
Who is doing it the right way?

Slow day? Seriously - top to bottom is the only possible correct way ETA Actually in my case since I use a medicated shampoo that needs to be left in for a bit I wash my hair, then my body and scrub/pumice my feet. Then I rinse out the shampoo, put in conditioner, use microbead facial wash and rinse conditioner and face at the same time.

I do top to bottom.... I don't want to use my shower puff on some sensitive areas right after I washed my feet. And we bathe DS in the tub - I do top to bottom on him too. I don't want to wash his hair with butt water!

Bottom to top works...if you hang them upside down!

I'm with the top down. Shampoo in my hair, then wash body top down while shampoo sits in hair, rinse, conditioner, shave legs/wash face, rinse. I do wash my car bottom to top though.

I do top down, since I have curly hair and use a ton of conditioner. Otherwise the slimy conditioner ends up all over my back.

Then tell DH to get in there and do it the correct way. God, he should be glad that they will even shower/bathe. If memory serves me your kiddos are small. Wait till the pre teen/teen years

When all is said and done, are the kids clean? If yes, then 'meh'.

Does he have a logical reason for washing bottom up?
Top down is pretty obvious - you wash the dirt out of your hair, and it lands on your body, so you keep washing your body until you get down to the feet and then everything is washed off. I can't think of a reason you would start at your feet, unless you need to double back for round 2 anyway - as many people should.

I generally do top to bottom, but if DD is not cooperating sometimes I just have to wash what I can, when I can. She gets all clean eventually. Since she's still taking baths, all the water is gross the second I put her in. And since she likes to drink the water by the cup-full while I am trying to bathe her, I am obviously not too freaked out about germs.

I remember when the kids first started showering without my assistance. They would go in there, and be in there for 15 or 20 minutes, and get out and still have chocolate on their face. Once, my son got out of the shower so dirty, I made him get back in and I washed him myself. Boy, was he pissed off about that one. But, after that he got a lot better about getting the dirt off and making sure he used enough soap to smell clean - in fear I would see him naked in the shower again.

If you're standing under the shower, and the water's running, you're getting rinsed off whether you're washing top to bottom or bottom to top.
Why not put the kids in the dishwasher along with the day's dishes and set it to speed clean.. Multiple tasks completed in one fell swoop.

I don't want their bathing suit areas in with my dishes. Yuck.

Top down, and that's how we do kiddo too. I wash my hair and put the conditioner in and then wash the rest of me. I fully rinse off everything at the end....

I washed the kids from the top down, and now they are in the habit of it. I'll wash their hair, then hand them a loofah and tell them to go to town.
When can I start having them wash their own hair? I am getting old and tired.

So, for me - I do top to bottom.
Kids - I do body first, hair last. They still sometimes cry when I do their hair, so I don't want to be listening to all that whimpering while I am washing their bodies, so I wait until the end
