I bought some black tea in bags a couple of weeks ago... Shop-Rite store brand, 100 bags for $3.69. It was, not to put too fine a point on it, blah. So I went to the local Stop $ Shop and bought their store brand of black tea. 100 bags for $1.29. MUCH better. Much MUCH better.
I usually brew it in a stainless steel pot, bring 2 quarts of filtered tap water to a boil, take it off the heat and add six tea bags. Let it steep 4 minutes, then remove the tea bags, add sugar (1/4 cup) and then allow it to cool before pouring it a pitcher. I serve it over ice with a squeexe of lemon juice. Sometimes I peel a little of the lemon zest off and brew it along with the tea bags.
Do you have any recommendations for different types/brands of tea for iced tea, or other methods of brewing?
