constanz Nice to know about CVS. I can hit them early, still watch my political shows and be ready for the late afternoon Bears game. I think this one is going to hurt.
I am over buying macintosh apples this year. They have been on sale several times over the past 2 months. I have bought them 3 times & they have all been mealy. Guess I will be making a bunch of apple crisps. I MUCH prefer tart apples but the granny smiths have been $$.

I know the deals have been extrodinarily slim and coupon values have been pond water but I do miss all the chat.
FYI discover 5% bonus for Jan thru Mar is restaurants and movies.
A blogger in AZ that I happen to follow mentioned Goodwill was having a NYD (1/1) sale w/much stuff priced at $1.23. I KNOW Salvation Army often has BIG sales on weekday holidays. Weather permitting, you might want to check them out if conveniently located.
Not sure if I will go out as forecast is for VERY cold (single digit highs) and about 4 inches of snow. Seems like this is the coldest winter we have had in at leat 2 if not 5 years. I have been planning my shopping and errands for the warmest day each week and pretty much hibernating otherwise.

I had a good run today at Walmart by price matching just about everything and using up some good coupons before they expired. I got five 12 oz. packs of bacon for $2.00 each, 6 Special K cereals for $1.79 each, 2 bananas for $.10, 2 oranges for $.40, 1 pineapple for $.99, 1 sour cream for $1.00, 1 Febreeze plug-in for $2.49, 1 gal. milk for $1.99 and 5 yogurts for $2.10. After using coupons, I paid $20.13.
At Rite Aid I returned an item and spent it on a gift card. I got a dozen eggs and a bottle of Neutragena moisturizer. I used a $1.50 MQ on the moisturizer and paid the rest with the gift card.
Yesterday I went to Staples and bought 5 Scott paper towels 6-packs for $4.99 each and 1 sucker for $.50. I used a $5/25 in-ad coupon and my $20.00 in rewards. I paid $.48 OOP.
We've been busy remodeling a spare bedroom and the staircase so I've been looking all over for coupons and deals to use on paint supplies and extras. I got a window valance from Amazon for $35.00 and used my swagbucks to pay for it. We went to 2 Goodwills and found a swing lamp without shade for $2.90 and at the other one, found a lamp with a shade that will work for $4.00. My Energizer rebates had come in and I used those to buy some frames for some pictures to hang in our staircase.

for the past month I have been hunting for a restaraunt.com or groupon deal for my every couple of months dinner pal's bday dinner. Finally found a deal/place to take my friend, w/a restaurant.c gift card, covers the type of place I wanted to take him and is within my planned budget. EXTRA attraction: it is VERY close by.
I would have waited to buy it until 1/1 so I could use my Discover card BUT the discount code is only good thru today. 5% of $5 or even $10 (no code price) is meaningless.

Been finding lots of good deals at CVS 75% off. I haven't had a chance to do any other after Christmas shopping though. I have the rest of the week off and was planning to spend all day Thursday making the rounds (Target, Kohls, WalMart, Sams, etc, etc.) but now they are calling for a big snowstorm Thursday and Friday. Of course...

I know the deals have been extrodinarily slim and coupon values have been pond water but I do miss all the chat. Unfortunately, there is not much for me to chat about these days. My free coupon resource is now gone; I used only a fraction of what I had gotten in the last year anyway, so it's not THAT big of a loss. I really only need great deals on food items and both the Grocery Outlet and/or the 99 Cent Store seem to offer the best deals in town and neither one of them take MCs. I could trade stamps for coupons on one of the national couponing sites to add extra savings to deals offered at Safeway, but those deals are so limited in quantity that it doesn't seem worth the time or effort - and then there is no guarantee that I'd get the coupons in time to do the deal.

Happy New Year, everybody! Keep up the good fight in finding those deals. I must have been hyper vigilant in 2013 because my food bill actually decreased! Total spent: $2047.79 for an average of $170.65 Total spent in 2012 was $2490.91--but DD2 was still living with us for half the year. Still, our 2013 amount includes a backyard bbq that we had with @ 50-60 people passing through. And, the above amounts reflect food purchases only--not wine, beer or other beverages. And it helps that we are not big beef eaters. At least, I'm not a big beef eater and since I'm the one going to the store, none of us eat very much of it. Every now and then, though, I'll make a super good pot roast or beef stew. So, my goal for 2014 is to see if I can get it below $2,000. Like dancinmama, I love the Grocery Outlet and my 99 cent store. I can't believe the deals I get on produce (some organic!) at the 99 cent store. And, GO is my go to place for yogurt (and ice cream ).

Good for you, Murphath!! I got a little behind on adding mine up. Last week I was in Marvholly's neck of the woods and boy was it cold! (And snowy, and icy, and it's worse this week!) It reminds me of why I left! Thankfully I am back in the sunshine and am looking forward to picking a handful of lettuce and tomatoes this weekend. They managed to survive without us here to water them for ten days. I used my $3 RR and $3 UP to get a bottle of laundry spray for $0.60 and a tube of Neosporin for $2. I was out of both. Now I have no store rewards left, just CVS GCs. I went to Sprouts yesterday and they didn't have much on sale. DH is back on the paleo diet again and requested veggies, since we still have some meat in the fridge. I got out of there for $7. The last time that happened was before I met him.

First of the year coupons, six inserts. No one even mentioned it! I totally forgot until I saw it. Is anyone getting extras? I see there is a Finish coupon, as usual. Is there a deal coming up? I got a few free ones with a TMF rebate but I can always use more.
