CVS has a buy 150$ Paypal GC (4.95 activation fee) get 50$ ECB deal the next 4 days only. I am planning to do the following - I have 100$ Amex card from a SW promo a couple weeks ago: Albertsons - 100$ MC + 4.95 activation fee - Use Amex 100$ - Get 20$ cat - 15$ profit Smart N Final - 100$ MC + 4.95 activation fee - Use MC 100$ - Get 15$ cat - 10$ profit CVS - 150$ pp card + 4.95 activation fee - Use MC 100$ +50$ CC - Get 50$ ECB - 45$ profit CVS - Get 150$ Amex card - no activation fee - Use PP 150$ - Avoid PP activation fees RA - buy HI GC get 10$ Up - not sure if it's limit 1 or 2. Or roll it again once more at Albertsons and Smart n Final. I heard about the CVS deal so I have to ask since I've never done it before. Can the funds from paypal get transferred back to your bank account? I'm planning on doing similar deals at Meijer, Kroger and Rite Aid next week. I would go back to shopping at CVS if I had $50.00 in ECB's. I am not sure if you can transfer the funds back to your bank account. I am just planning to use it to buy either an Amex 150$ card or 100$ to buy the MC again at Albertsons and 50$ at RA to use it up.

TIA Freesalsa, I am buying Mastercard, which is accepted like a Visa card everywhere, so can be rolled. The paypal card is also supposed to be a Mastercard.

Savein: I read several posts about the deal on SD so I think I understand. I'm not sure of the limit on those and the CVS manager is militant about not using anyone else's card except your own. I would like to roll it on another card and then use that card to my gift cards this week at Meijer, Kroger and Rite Aid. Did you activate the card right there in the store or did you go home first and do it online?

rubyslippers,
I did it over the phone and had to wait a while to get connected. They ask for all sorts of stuff since they will be sending you a personalised card and I asked the CS guy what if I did not want it. He said they would cancel it and there is no fee if you call them. I just used the PP card and bought a 150$ Amex GC with no activation fee.
Freesalsa,
Smart and Final is not doing the master card this year for the 15$ cat. Good thing I checked, but they have Macys and some other cards if you want them. Activation fee for the MC is 5.95, so profit of 14$ at Albertsons.

I didn't realize that there were Sun-Wed ads and Thursday-Sun ads for CVS and Rite Aid. I wasn't planning to have to shop until Thursday or Friday. There's a lot to get for free and I really should go out and do some today, but I had other plans (still trying to get decluttered!) so I don't know if I'll get out there today. I'll have to try to do it after work this week. I hope there's something left when I get there.
Thanks all for the GC updates.

Free Salsa: Wow! You went to work getting those lists together. Thanks. I did go to CVS yesterday to begin the ECB rolling. I bought the Sparkle paper towel, the GUM toothbrushes and Colgate. Paid $3.46 w/tax and got $3 EB's back. I'll use those on the other EB's earning stuff. I'm also planning a trip to RA on Saturday but that will be in San Diego while visiting our son. He's the lead in a play so we're going to see that (and him, of course). If anyone is needing anything at ACE hardware that is under $30, there is a 50% printable q on coupons.com. We'll stop at one of those on Sat. as well because we need a new fireplace grate. Q is only good on 11/30. I'm bummed to report that the flooring installation deal fell through for us. When we rec'd the quote, it was not with the $397 whole house price we were quoted. I went to argue the point with their manager but it was a no go. They did refund our measuring fee so at least I know how much we'll need. Back to my original plan of putting them in myself Wish me luck I have gotten some things done--finished doing the painting in the stairwell/landing area. Because of the original color, I had to prime that area as well. I know the paint had primer also, but these walls needed extra coverage. I'm onto the wrought iron railing and want to finish that before Thanksgiving. When we get back, I have to retexture DD2's walls and can then paint. Then onto wallpaper removal in DD1's room and finally, paint our room/bathroom. We did get the light fixtures back in, including the new one by the front door. And I have re-hung a couple pictures using the COMMAND no damage strips. Have to get more of those. So, all in all, making progress Everytime I finisih one thing, I find another. I really do need to repaint the trim work. All of these things need to be done before the floors anyway so I'm back to taking my own sweet time.

As soon as I walked into work this morning, my coworker told me about the paypal card deal at CVS. I wasn't completely sure I wanted to do it because it's tough to spend a $50 EB. OTOH, there's more than $50 worth of free stuff available this week, so I could always roll it and break it down. I'm going to go out in a bit and see what our downtown stores have in stock. If they are picked over of all the freebies, it might still not be worth it. I think I read somewhere that this deal is coming up limit 2 instead of 1. You can "share" on FB for a BOGO coupon here...seems like a good use for my fake account

I went to CVS yesterday and picked up the Sparkle and the candy/gum items. Black Friday ads at the drug chains are not even close to what they used to be, but I guess it's better than nothing!! Will be getting the Home Improvement GCs at Rite Aid on the way to my sister's home on Thursday. Are UPs still not card specific?

I stopped at one cvs on my way to work and was going to buy the paper towels, Mac and cheese and a candy bar sine I had no EB's. they didn't have the sparkle or Mac and cheese so I left with nothing. Just hit a couple stores after work and was a little more successful. I'm not getting all the freebies. Just stuff I'll use. I agree with dancin. The old days are long gone

I think this TG sale is much better than many previous ones - RA has a lot of items that are useful instead of just the same old same old. Almonds, pudding, oatmeal, cereal , nail polish, soap, scotch brite etc. etc. Tide is also free/cheap this week if you have Ups to roll.
The Sparkle is limit 2. So buy 2, use BOGO Q - pay 1$ and get 2 ECBs.

The PayPal card deal at cvs is regional, so, anyone looking to do it, make sure your store is participating! That's a lot of money to put out and not get back what you expect!

That's a lot of money to put out and not get back what you expect! Ask before you do the paypal deal. Last night it wasn't working but I called today and it was. I bought one card and used my ECB's on a bottle of perfume for me. It's usually cheaper than buying it in a department store especially if I have a % off coupon. Today I just bought the perfume and a couple of the freebies and rolled the freebies a couple of times. I then activated the card and went to spend it down by buying gift cards at Kroger to earn 4X fuel points. My sister got a couple of them yesterday at a different CVS. I heard they might pull them so I would check before making a trip, but $4.95 for an expensive bottle of perfume was worth the effort for me.
Constanz, did you look at cvsdotcom to see if it was available in your area? It's not part of anyone's regular sale ad.

rubyslippers,
I too bought the sprays - BOGO Free for my son and DH, since I did not want to carry a big ECB. I bought coffee, chocolate, perfume, TB and gum and spent the 50$ ECB.

Dancin I do have a few things I want at CVS BF but this is the first year in about 5 that WAG has NOTHING I want. Not sure if it’s the ad or I’m MUCH more picky 7 the grands are older. We do not have Rite Aid so I don’t even look.
From what I am hear from assorted bloggers across the country there has been an EXTREME shortage of the Pay Pal gc. A HUGE number of stores got NONE. Rumor is the deal IS going to be pulled. None I metro Chicago inc the north & west burbs.

I got the Sparkle, Kraft, candy, and gum; but I can't really say that getting any of it was really exciting.

I haven't shopped CVS in weeks, but I jumped back in this week with the paypal card deal. I bought the card yesterday, activated it right away, and then used the money on the card to pay off the credit card that I used to make the purchase in the first place. The payment actually cleared before the charge, so now I have a credit on my discover card and no money left on the paypal card (so they can't charge me any further fees). Today I went and rolled my $50 into smaller EBs so they are easier to work with. My store was still stocked with almost all the freebies. The only thing I couldn't find was the GUM toothbrushes. I spent $52 EBs and .41 cash, and I now have $53.90 in EBs. It almost felt like the good 'ol days I'm running low on a few of the things that I used to get regularly with drugstore deals: advil PM, contact solution, zyrtec, TP, etc. I imagine most of my EBs will go to things like that next month, although I don't expect the deals to be there like they used to be. I think I'm going to jump back into RA today if they have the stuff I'm looking for. My initial OOP will probably be somewhat high, but I have my eye on the free earbuds and free M&Ms on Friday

Savein: Are all perfumes BOGOF at CVS? If they are, I will go back and do a return/rebuy. I would LOVE to have another bottle of perfume.
I did the P&G deal at Rite Aid today and got 5 Tides and a CG eyeshadow. After using UPs and coupons, I got a $15.00 UP. The Woolite dry cleaning sheets 6 pk. was 75% off for $2.62 and I got one of those too.
I believe the Home Improvement gift cards will be a limit of 2 starting Thursday.

No. Only a few of them are - make sure to check out the tags before you buy.

No. not yet. Since it has a zero balance, I am hoping it is automatically canceled. I am just waiting for the whole thing to die down before I call. If I get any updates, I will post.

Finished my grocery shopping for the week on Tue and the TOTAL of my spending was just under $4 as I had expected. However, I bought 2 more items than I planned-eggs & Kraft mac n cheese (CVS deals).

I also found one other way to get the card to $0 balance. When I activated it online, it gave me the option to pay my bills with the account and provided an acct and routing number. Since I used my discover to buy the paypal card, I just paid my discover bill with the card. It went through overnight and put the card at $0 balance within 24 hours. There also seemed to be an option to cancel the account online, although I haven't done it yet.

I was at the GO today and scored on some 24 oz. pkgs. of Precious String Cheese. Even though it was two days out of date on Monday, the guy would not mark it down from the $3.47/pkg. that they were asking. What a difference a couple of days makes. The SAME guy saw me look at it today and walk away when I saw it had not been reduced further. He asked, "Do you want it?". I asked, "How much?" He marked it down another $1.50/pkg. AND because it's Wednesday, I got an additional 5% discount for being old. I can handle cheese for $1.25/lb.!!

I did my Kroger shopping today and used up the last of my $.50 Bob Evans sausage MQ's (doubled) to get each roll for $.95 after coupons and senior discount. I spent a total of $14.00+ on 5 rolls sausage, 8 Reach floss, 1 lettuce, 1 bag radishes, 1 celery, 1 red onion, a rotisserie chicken and a free Larabar. I saved over $15.00 and have a $3.00 catalina for next week.
I was going to do another paypal card at CVS but they were having "issues" again.
Some of the Kiss nail products were 50% off for $2.64-$1.00 IPQ= $1.64 and produced a $5.00 UP reward. I got 3 Powerbars on sale for $.49 each and used a $1.50/3 IPQ and received a $1.00 UP (monthly deal).
Rite Aid has some decent deals this weekend but the manager warned me that the warehouse sent very little even though he put in for a big order. He'll end up having to hear everyone complain.

I got all kinds of free stuff at CVS, stuff that we use and needed. I used three cards to get most of the stuff and then with three more cards I got just the six items I wanted most. Three stores and several checkers and I don't know how many transactions later, I only managed to annoy two checkers and one self check machine! I think I spent less than $2 because my GC ran out. Luckily I have another one waiting at home and enough Swagbucks to order another one now.
I decided to skip RA because I am wiped out from all the CVS trips and there was so little on the list that I could use myself. I would be happy to get it and donate it but it was too much work. It's funny that most of you preferred the RA items over the CVS. I can't wait to show DH all I got.
With the three cards I don't use much, I used the final ECBs to make for cheap Angel Soft and Honey Maid graham crackers.

DONE IT! Went online early Tday morning & ordered bday gifts for 1 DGD & 2 DGSs. Already have most of what I want for the other DGD. No rushing home tonight. NO running around in the COLD on Fri. PLUS my order is big enough for FREE shipping. I do still have a couple dollar store/dollar spot items want BUT I can easily avoid the mob scene tonight & Fri. I still want a watch for the 5 y/o to be girl as I have one for each of the boys. I also should buy a large pack of AA batteries for each of the boys.
