Well, both my mom and DS had a $5/$20 in their J4U accounts and they expire tomorrow. I was just going to let them go until I saw the deal Safeway is having on bags of snack size candy bars. I used a $5/$20, a 10% off candy J4U, and used $1.50/3 and $1/2 insert coupons to get them for $.80/bag. Did the deal on both accounts and hid the candy while DH was out golfing. Since I don't have any drug chain rewards, this is the first time in years that I've actually had to pay for Halloween candy, but I can't complain to much about $.80/bag.

Got (8) pkgs. of thin cut pork chops on Manager's Special (50% off) at Safeway today. I was totally out in my freezer so the sale could not have happened at a better time. I love pork chops, but I refuse to pay even the sale price for them.

In spite of the cold & rain I hit up Target & walMart Thur. One of the things I wanted was a Halloween gift for the 4 y/o grandson. NOTE: CANNOT give candy as 5 y/o is HIGHLY allergic to all corn products inc high fructose corn syrup. Found NOTHING! Checked my shelf at home and found a book, 2 activity pads and a windup toy. I am sure all were bought on clearance. COVERED for this year. The things I had bought will just become stocking stuffers so ahead there too plus the $10ish of stuff I have gotten/have on order at Amazon. I’ll restock for next year’s Halloween on this year’s sales. Another stop I made was a fruit/veg market near Target & WalMart that I seldom get to. WOW!! Their prices have skyrocketed, WAAAY above all my other independent & fruit/veg markets. Will NOT be going back there in the for seeable future.

Went and did the Kraft cheese deal again so I now have 12 packages of cheese (shredded and blocks). Guess I better start looking for some recipes that use cheese!
Got a few ok grocery deals at Target yesterday using MC, target coupons, target text coupons and the new cartwheel app coupons, but, dang, that's a lot of work, time, and effort. The main thing I went there for was a cute little Fisher Price toy/doll that was $15.xx but under $5 with coupons. It was going to be a Christmas present for my new niece. Of course, they were OOS, and wouldn't give a rain check. I almost never get to target anymore, so much for that deal...I did score a nice clearance deal. A Honeywell tower fan, regularly $45 on clearance for $13.xx.
Went to kohls too with a few returns and my $10 kohls bday giftcard. They were running 25% off all clearance apparel. Not sure I've ever seen this at kohls. Ended up with some decent end of season clothes for good prices, plus they had % off with kohls card, and were doing kohls cash.

Marvholly, have you tried Unreal candy? No corn syrup. I've had the peanut butter cups and they are fantastic!!! I like them so much I haven't tried any of the other flavors. I get them at CVS but my mom hasn't seen them at her store. Maybe she wasn't looking. I've been able to get them with CRTs and gift cards. Or sometimes I'll just go with the sale price. Now and then you can get a bag for $3 sale. I think they have new packaging because it looks a little different on the web site. But there's a list there of where you can buy them. getunreal.com/our-productsWe don't buy anything with corn syrup anymore. Ok, hardly ever. You could try Trader Joe's if you have one. They are cheaper than Whole Foods. They have organic chocolate bars for $2 near the registers. Good luck. Eating that way is not cheap but I still save about 50% over regular prices. ETA: The store locator is not that great but it looks like they sell them at a Target near me too. Try several zip codes and see what you get.

I was just in Georgia for about a week visiting some of DH's family. I went along for the ride to Kroger (which their family calls K. Roger) to see what prices are like there. They are similar but everything was just .25, .25. or.50 cheaper there. I didn't think that was too much difference but if you buy 20 things thats $10 on your bill! So that makes it much cheaper. The regular price on 18 eggs was $1.59. Amazing. Ours for 12 is $2.50 at least. Of course, we made breakfast with these eggs and I don't know what chickens they came from but the eggs were kind of watery. I don't get the fancy eggs usually but these were definitely inferior.
We went to a peach farm and although peach season was over, we bought some canned peaches in a jar. $8 for 32 oz. Not cheap. But they were the best canned peaches I've ever had, except for when my mom used to can them at home. Just sugar and peaches. I just heard that I may be getting some for Christmas. Yay!

Just wanted to update everyone on my Organix coupon journey. I did get ShopRite to honor what they told me and I get cash back. The customer service guy(different one) wrote the sale date and possibly the transaction date on at least one of the coupons while I was there. One very important thing I learned policies like these might be store by store versus chain or possibly regional. My other Shoprite with in 5 miles of the one who gave me the cash, refused to do the transaction and the head customer service guy was part of that refusal. I didn't understand why any post dating or fudging of dates would be necessary, my Organix items where purchased on 10/11 and I got there on 10/18. The coupons BTW arrived Tuesday I think, but I had several unscheduled work shifts plus some necessary appointments so it didn't get addressed until Friday.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still all for saving money using coupons, but most of today's deals don't even come close to what we experienced before Extreme Couponing. The deals seem to be getting more and more complicated, involve more YMMV, require more time and effort and yield less product due to coupon usage restrictions, and cost more in OOP. During the days when you could roll drug chain rewards for free, almost weekly, and on several products that most people use on a regular basis, spending the time and effort to amass a stockpile of products was a no-brainer. Since I'm not 'in the game' so to speak, I can't say for sure; but from what I read, I don't think it's nearly as lucrative or as much fun as it used to be.

Free Salsa I did the Unreal candy when it first came out and was FREE/cheap at CVS (2 years ago). Have NOT even seen it recently. I have just gotten to the point of NOT doing candy since they get so much. I have a book for the 8 y/o and a couple Halloween activity pads for the 4 y/o twins. I may not even go to DD1's this year. I am tired of marching around in the cold for hours. Been doing it for about 7 years.
Hit it BIG time at one of my independent, local chains. They sell most of their deli meat ends for $1.99/lb. Found a 1 lb pkg of roast beef and corn beef. Made myself an Italian beef sandwich Sat and plan on a ruben (have rye & kraut on hand) this week. Froze some of it.

I did rain check shopping at Rite Aid today to use up most of my rewards. I got 2 Tide, 1 Nexxux, 1 Sharpie, 1 Finesse shampoo, 1 bottle of olive oil and a lollipop. I used $8.00 in UPs, $2.00 Video Value, $5.00 MQ's and spent $1.95 OOP. I received $1.00 in UPs which gives me a total of $3.00 in UPs to try to figure out how to spend.
I will be buying more $.59 mushrooms at Aldi and a 10 lb. bag of potatoes for $1.99 later in the week and some coffee at Meijer. When I get my gas cards at Kroger, I will pick up my freebie items and that's about it for this week unless I see a killer deal on chicken.

Is CVS not doing the $3 EB for your birthday anymore? I think I've always gotten it before but did not this month. I checked the online EB acct, and scanned my card, and email...nada

I was at CVS today to buy the pistachios (18oz) for sale at $5.99 but they were totally out. The manager then let me do this deal - get 2 smaller pkts of 12 oz each for $5.99 instead. Bless him.......

Safeway has been good to my mom and DS. They both had $5/$20s from J4U last week. They both got them again this week!! It just so happens that they are having killer deals on Halloween candy and the Fresh Express salad kits are $3 again this week (with $2 coupons from Safeway's produce mag), so it's pretty easy to come up with $20 to spend and end up with a low OOP.

I haven't shopped at Dollar General lately but got a few good deals today and yesterday. I bought 8 2-pks Dial soap for a $1.00 each and used four $2/2 Dial coupons, getting 16 bars of soap for free except for tax. Today I found a bunch of summer stuff for 90% off and picked up BBQ items, microfiber cloths, spray bottles, garden tools and coffee mugs for $.10 and/or $.25 each. I'm putting some away for stocking stuffers for the guys this Christmas and the mugs I'm using for a soup party this weekend.

It will be very interesting to see how long they keep giving them.

Yeah i am totally "out of it' right now. i need to start these small deals up again. I have nearly a bare shelf in my closet I am always looking for soap and totally bummed about that one. I do have an envie with coupons clipped and ready to use i just don't know where to take them....everywhere is so expensive now.

Hopetoberich: It is a lot harder trying to find h/b items today than it was a few years ago. I've found that some of my better deals have come from unconventional places, like the grocery stores. That never used to be the case as almost all freebies or moneymakers were from the three big drugstores. In the past couple of months, I've gotten free shampoo from Meijer, free deodorant, toothpaste and makeup from Kroger, razors and soap from Dollar General. I've also been shopping at Family Dollar more as of this past summer. They seem to have some pretty good deals once in awhile and their clearance bins have allowed me to get some free items.
Meijer has Post cereals for $1.99 this week and I had an mperk for a free can of Folgers when you buy 2 Honey Bunches of Oats. I did the deal and on my box of cereal was a peelie for $3.00 off 2 cereals and any coffee. I took the peelie and price matched the cereal at Walmart and found a can off coffee for $2.00. So my sub-total was $5.98 for 2 cereals and 1 coffee, less $3.00 peelie and I paid $2.98 OOP at Walmart. Total for the week was $6.96 for 4 cereals and 2 coffees. DH is set for cereal and coffee for awhile.

It appears from Free Salsa's recent post that a couple of things are free at CVS this week IF you're already holding EBs to roll, (which I'm not)....although I still have about $200 on gift cards. I am noticing that a lot of the blogs these days will help people navigate through a CVS shopping trip and spend only $5 or $10 in OOP - not at all like the old days when you were barraged with a smorgasbord of freebie opportunities. I think we all had to know that it wouldn't last forever.

Dancin What the devil are you doing up at this hour? I calculate your having just posted at about 3:15 am your time. Ya, I know. I suffer from mentalpause. Sometimes I wake up and can't get back to sleep. If I lay there with for too long without falling back to sleep, I pick up my computer and surf until I get sleepy again.

I did a couple deals at CVS & Rite Aid yesterday: CVS 2 Snickers peanut butter squared halloween candy $3.76 1 A&W 2L .99 3 M&M Peanut butter (individual size) $3.87 Minus: 2/$1 Snickers pb squared IPs 1/.30 A&W CRT from Red Machine 1/.55 A&W peelie q CVS B2G 1F Mars candy promo $1.29 B2G1F Mars candy IP $1.29 $1 ECB
Total OOP: $1.68
Rite Aid 1 Crest 3D rinse $4.50 Minus $1.50 Crest rinse q 9/29 P&G insert $3 UP OOP .38 Rec'd $3 UP back
I wasn't going to buy any halloween candy because we had zero trick or treaters last year but since the bags were so cheap, I decided to cave. Also, I can always give it to our kids when they come visit. The peanut butter M&Ms are for me though! I am addicted!
I also found a $1 Clorox bleach Safeway CRT on the ground when walking to my car. Why would someone throw away a Clorox q for $1. You never see any q's for Clorox and if they exist, they're for .30 or .25. I've tried other brands and Clorox is far and away the best bleach for whites. Now I just have to see if they'll have a sale price soon.

grocery ads come out today. I REALLY hope for some decent produce specials. I need just about everything: romaine, leaf lettuce, bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, green beans.............All I have right now is mushrooms, golden grape tomatoes and some baby spinach. The prices on my needs/wants have been out of sight for several weeks. I will NOT paying $1.19 for broccoli when my price point is 0.49-0.69.

A couple different decent razor deals at CVS. Venus single (no tagged but gave $5 EB), priced around 7.99, use $3/1 P&G expires tomorrow, free after EB CVS ladies 5 blade razor, 8.29, giving $5 EB and there's a $3/1 IP on cvs website. I also grabbed two Snickers PB squared for 1.88 minus $1/1 IP, so .88. Thought about using the Q at Wags but CVS is way more convenient for me. And don't have to deal with RR. I also bought 3 Mars singles, buy 2 get 1 cvs sale and buy 2 get 1 MC, so three for 1.19. I had a $5 EB and my $3 birthday EB, paid $5 OOP and got 2 $5 EB's back. I am going to buy the Coke 12 packs and use them up, I think. Except it'd be nice to have a few EB's for Black Friday, so, we'll see...maybe I'll use one $5 toward the soda and save one

I wasn't going to buy Halloween candy this year either. We only got a handful of kids last year so I have already decided that I am going to make a goodie bag for the two little kids in the neighborhood, give it to them on Thursday, and call it good. HOWEVER, with the $2/snack sized bag sale at Safeway (if you buy 5 or more), my J4U $5/$20, my J4U 10% off candy, and MCs, I was able to buy Hershey and Nestle for less than I am sure I will see them on clearance, so I picked up a few. I need to get around to repacking a few bags and getting them into the freezer before DH finds them.

I had a little fun cherry picking today. At Kroger I got 9 boxes of Betty Crocker chicken helpers @ $1.00 a box, 6 cans of Red Gold Tomatoes @ $1.00 a can and 5 Think Thin bars @ $1.00 each. I paid $1.00 total after using 18 coupons that doubled and a $1/2 IPQ for 2 cans of tomatoes. I earned $8.00 in catalinas from those transactions and bought 1 loaf of bread, 1 pkg. buns, 1 sour cream, 1 celery, 1 bananas, 1 ground pepper, 1 Ortego sauce and 1 Ortego seasoning. Before I checked out, I saw in the clearance cart Pampers wipes for $.99 each. I never brings stacks of inserts with me but today I brought the P&G ones that expire tomorrow. I cut out 4 coupons, went back in the store and got them for free. I spent $3.22 total and saved $30.96. Most of the B. Crocker helpers were given away. I gave my niece the Pampers wipes and saved one for the food pantry.
At Meijer I got 4 Marie Callender sides @ $1.00 each and 4 Hormel pepperoni @ $1.00 each. After coupons, I paid $3.00 and saved $5.00. My sons will get the M.C. sides.
I paid $1.95 plus some UPs and coupons at Rite Aid for 2 Crest mouthwash, 2 Gillette shave gels and 3 Dawn dish soaps and increased my UPs by a dollar. I saved $14.75. I screwed up and could've saved an extra dollar as there was a Rite Aid blinkie on one mouthwash but they don't like you to take it off until you pay. By that time, I had forgotten about it until I got home. I will probably use a R. A. coupon for an Amazon gift card, $3/25, to get an early Christmas gift for a family member.
For those of you who like Lindt chocolate, there were some $2.00 printables that will make them free at Walgreens next week or by price matching at Walmart.
