I've always considered corn a grain. I count it in the "starch" category. I also don't consider potatoes vegetables. You can't get french fries with your burger and declare that you ate vegetables.
Is corn a vegetable?

You can make beer with it, so it's a grain.

You can make sugar with it so it is a desert.

The ketchup transforms the french fries into a vegetable.

I treat it as a starch. If we have corn, we don't have potato.

You can make beer with it, so it's a grain. You can make beer with the new growth tips of spruce trees. Does that make trees a grain?

Can you make beer with that, or is that something they add to beer? I know a guy who puts chocolate and peppermint in beer (it's horrendous), but you can't make a beer with just those. There are no long chain starches that the enzymes can break down into sugar which the yeast can convert into alcohol. With corn there are. You can make a beer using just corn.

I went to the Boston Craft Beer Fest on Friday and there was a brewer that was supposed to bring a peanutbutter chocolate stout. I so wanted to try it to see if it was a train wreck or really good. They ended up not bringing it though, friggen bastards.

Chocolate stout is really good. I could see a peanut butter chocolate stout being pretty good. Peppermint was not a good idea in my opinion. It was like drinking a bad beer through a candy cane.

I love a good chocolate stout or coffee stout. I was really interested to see if they could make a good one with a peanut butter flavor. I was having a hard time imaging it. But I did have Lawson's Finest Liquid's Double Sunshine IPA. Holy shit, that was that good beer. The aroma was so incredible that I could have just smelled it all night.

Sorry, I'd just cracked open my breakfast shandy (wheat beer with fruit juice) before I opened this page.

You can also make a beer without yeast. You use kiefer water grains. DH made a hard cider with them and is going to try a hard sarsaparilla next. Then beer.

Where does the alcohol come from?
Nevermind, I googled it, Kefir grains are a combination of bacteria and yeast in a protein matrix of proteins, lipids, and sugars. You aren't making beer without yeast, you're just using a different kind of yeast.

Corn, potatoes and ketchup are all vegetables. Don't you judge me! But judging people is the only hobby I have. Don't deny me.

You should start brewing beer, it goes great with judging people. Well drinking it does. Nothing better than a cold one while thinking about what tool bags everyone around you are. Or is? Are I think. Whatever, don't judge me. Except Thyme, she gets too because she has nothing better to do.
ETA - Nope should have been is. I think. Fucking mornings. I need another beer.

I declare french fries to be a vegetable. Corn is a genetically modified train wreck. Yes, judge it as it's in your beer. You are now a genetically modified hoooman. Dark Honor? Did you really get away with --------- mornings? Yeeesss you did. ---------- Whole Grains Council had corn as the grain of the month. I have a computer that does fast research.

I forget where I just recently read that most of genetically modified corn is in things like corn syrup, animal feed, tacos, and tortilla chips and not much else. The article said the best way to avoid genitically modified corn was to avoid products with corn syrup in them. Corn is a vegetable, a starch, and a grain. I think of it as a vegetable when I have corn on the cob and a grain/starch when I make corn bread. Heck I even remember corn and black beans is supposed to have the right amino acid balance if you need protein and are avoiding meat. (Trying to restore peace in the Thyme universe. )
