How the heck are any talented trolls supposed to post with that little proviso in the COC? Sheesh - its gonna be really boring if everyone has to be totally honest ;D

That COC excerpt is copied from the terms of service everyone here agreed to when they registered for a proboards account.

No false or inaccurate information at all? Crap. Due to the new rules I will no longer ever be discussing anything about my sex life (so so at best), my physical appearance (I don't quite scare small children), or my drinking habits (you could sterilize a small hospital with what I drink a month). Money stuff is still fine. Have you seen Moon's new Avatar? I think we'll be okay.

I keep looking at it like its an instructional manual. I think I have the pattern down. Except I would leave out one.

This is all such BS. It's basically telling us that we are too stupid to use common sense. And if people already starting to argue and say mean things, no COC will stop them.

Yep, that one is a puzzler. I mean, I've heard the whole "hole in the head" thing, but I didn't think it was that literal

Oh yeah. That makes much more sense. In that case, I like the entire pattern ;D

I give it a C-. It has some of the same problems that the MSN one did. For example: OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT You represent and warrant that you shall not use the Website or Services to upload, post, transmit, display, perform or distribute any content, information or materials that: (a) are libelous, defamatory, abusive, or threatening, excessively violent, harassing, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or pornographic; *bold and italics added by me* Who's definition of those words are we going by? Is it up to each mod to know it when they see it? And why do we need the legalese version in the first place? Nobody is signing a contract to be able to post here. We all know, and even if we don't it doesn't matter, that the owners and mods can ban anyone for any reason. There aren't going to be lawyers involved later poring over the COC to try and find a technicality to appeal a banning. Just put up a simple set of rules written in plain english. Dark, you didn't see the most important word in there. EXCESSIVELY!! as for "false or inaccurate information", i don't think that refers to the fun 'stories' people tell. it's different when the intent is fraud. and i don't think anyone here would do that. or i hope not, anyway. there were some that wanted a CoC, so i put one out there.. and as far as the common sense that was mentioned? my PM inbox and reported posts list is very long already so clearly there are some that DON'T use it.

Wotta surprise, new mods just starting to have reality sink in.
1. They have to interpret and apply written requirements that they cannot change no matter how much they dislike them, or they will get reported to proboard management.
2. People bitch and moan about crap so trivial that your basic high school clique wouldn't even worry about.
This'll be a drama worth watching.
Pass the popcorn.

Pass the popcorn. 1. i don't think anyone (mods) will get reported to proboard management for not following to the 'letter of the law'.. in fact, i mainly copied that stuff here because in terms of "libelous, defamatory, abusive, or threatening, excessively violent, harassing, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or pornographic" posts, i felt like there was no reason to re-invent the wheel. Emphasis is on the ones in red. I am not going to put up with that stuff. if you can't keep from putting someone down then you don't need to be here. life is too short. 2. yes.. VERY small things are being reported all too often and people need to learn to ignore the ones that push their buttons.

How much violence is allowed before being called excessively violent?

i'd say when the other person is unconscious, it's time to quit. in all seriousness, telling someone (tongue in cheek) 'don't make me come over there' is vastly different from actually threatening to kick someone's rear. but you all know that.

...:::"Is it up to each mod to know it when they see it?":::...
I know the last place I was admin, I told my users that I was giving each of my staff freedom to exercise his/her interpretations of the above. It was all in good fun and users appreciated it. They knew what would fly with whom.
It was also good for the staff. Staff were empowered and didn't have to come to me to be micromanaged.
