Has anyone had experience using the water soluable burial containers or "urns" such as the peaceful pillow model ? My sister has decided to relinquish our mother's ashes to the waters as she wished, and we are planning a simple ceremony. I don't think my sister is experienced with cremains and I expressed to her that it might be better to purchase a water soluble packet such as the one in the video below. I would like to know if anyone has ever transferred the ashes of their loved one into something like this, and if it worked out as far as the container being released upon the water, and then gradually sinking as it is shown in the video below. This is going to be a water "burial" done on a large lake, from the boat that will be taken out onto the lake in front of their house. There will be a number of elderly relatives present, as well as the kids and some of the grandkids. so we want it to go smoothly. www.inthelighturns.com/biodegradable-cremation-urns.html

My husband just took the cremains of a fishing buddy to Lake Erie. They fished with Vince's ashes for a few days and then released them where his family said was his favorite fishing spot.
They marked the location on the GPS the boat has and can come back for a visit next year.

When my Bill died I looked into a water soluable urns for ocean placement. Talked to the boat captian and he told me by law they have to stay in the area until the urn had dissapeared. So we chose not to do this.
We choose just a simple lowering of his cremains. The boat had a plastic basket large enough for the cremains and we bought fresh roses (not artificial) from Costco. Rose pedals were placed on top of the cremains, and each person was given a rose to throw in the water if they wished.
The basket had a line on the handle and one attached to the bottom. It was lowered into the water and the line on the bottom was pulled and the flowers and cremains were tipped out. Then each of us kissed our rose and sent the kisses and flowers with Bill. We circled the area 3 times before heading back to shore.
This took place off the So Calif shore at Pt Fermin. Bill and I spent our courting time there.
