So, we are going to be spending some time in the car soon... I need some good audiobook recommendations. Specifically audios, if you know the narrator that's even better.
Some we have loved are: Inkheart series, Golden Compass Series, Ender's Game, World War Z.. I can go thru my list for more...
adult titles are ok.
Thanks

I liked the Harry Potter series on audiobook. The only thing that annoyed me was he mispronounced "Hermione" consistently in the first three books or so.

I listened to The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, and a few other classics. I liked to have audio books for my commute, the gym, and so that I could listen and clean the house. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) so I wasn't too picky on narrator. I need to figure out how to download audio books from the library on my kindle.

We really enjoyed "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larsen. We like his books in general as he does a lot of research. He may even narrate them himself.
Sorry I can't give you other recommendations. I try to donate them to the library as soon as we are done.

I listen to a lot of Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers. Genteel murder ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) .

I"m trying to track down the "real" version of 101 Dalmatians on audio book. I want my kids to know the story because they leave so much out of the Disney version.

My parents like Louis Lamour for car trips. My Dad's a fan and Mom and I used to read them too.

Oped, what are the ages of the listeners?
My kids and I enjoyed "Series of Unfortunate Events" on audiobooks when they were younger. We would listen at bedtime, and usually giggle helplessly. The ones read by Tim Curry are especially good.

The Last of the Mohicans was really good in audiobook - There were 2 people one for the main story and another for the context notes during some of the storyline.
Tamora Pierce - has some really good YA series and listening to some of the books they do a good job.
Song of the Lioness series The Protector of the Small series The Circle of Magic series The Circle Opens series
Another good series is the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer - Katherine Kellgren goes a excellent job as narrator -- though depending on how old your kids are you might want to wait on this series.
There are others - Scott Brick is a great narrator and so is Susan Erickson - She does the Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory and it is really good.

Kids are 11 and 14, but like I said we just finished World War Z. Some of the faves we listed were from earlier years. There are some good ides here! I'll be looking them up. Good thing my audible just renewed ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)
