I wasn't arguing with you in particular. The majority of stuff Paul says I disagree with. Saying that domestic violence is not on par to being caught with some weed is one thing I tend to agree with. Hold on now- I didn't say it was on par. That was just an example of what some people would do. He saved a baby- but he sucks because he got caught smoking a doobie in college. Same kind of people that have tried to paint the Martin kid into a some criminal gangsta. They think- he's black- surely he has a criminal record- let's go look. And in the Martin case- even if there isn't one- make shit up anyway. So the guy did 8 months and has kept his nose clean for 10 years- that is not a bad outcome at all if you look at the numbers. The guy is paying his way- not a burden to taxpayers in prison- and yet some would have thrown away the key. Know how much that costs? I think it is somewhere around 25K per year easy- so just this guy alone out for 10 years saved a shitpile of cash. Imagine the cost of life in prison. You still want some of these stupid 3 strikes laws? Who's paying for it?

So - what is the point? I guy with a negative history is not capable of stepping up and helping someone out in an emergency? I don't think so . . . I would say the point is the exact opposite. Someone with a negative history and change and steiop up in an emergency. I think the way Ramsey has responded to the disclosures is absolutely great. He doesn't try to justify his mistakes and makes it clear he is different now.

By bringing that up you are making the comparison and it's not comparable.
Paul outlined a whole approach to punishments for domestic abuse. And all he spoke about was domestic abuse. I'm not commenting on any other criminal punishment here. But I completely endorse taking domestic violence very seriously and having more severe punishments.

Might have known some hack would try to dig up something on him. but...he did something heroic and that makes him a hero....let him bask in the glory for his 15 minutes of fame

You need to get out more Paul; they are Puerto Ricans and have legal status. Let’s not make this ugly. Ariel is a little pudgy balding middle age loser who has a habit of violence against women. That’s all that matters. He went to school here…he is a product of ‘merica. I still love…(well not that way) and respect Charles Ramsey…I would love to have this ‘bro’ (know what I’m sayin ) as my neighbor, to share some BBQ ribs and a cold beer with. The guy is an honest, what you see is what you get type with no pretensions; just a great guy (he did his time for his past transgressions and this act redeemed him fully and more in my mind). Besides, Chris Brown was charged with abuse and didn’t spend a day in jail, but I digress. I don't excuse him for any past wrong doing, but I applaud him for stepping up and doing the right thing. There are good decent people in the hood. Cheers to Charles Ramsey

Agree- this isn't about what he did 10 years ago- this is about what he did now- he got involved and helped put an end to a decade of horrors. As said earlier- this kind of person tells you how they see it. I know people like him-good or bad they at least are not full of shit- genuine.

So the guy does something good.....something right... and now people (and some media) are going to shit all over him? Real fkn nice.....I'm sure those three women and the child don't much give a fuck about some issue from years ago that happened because who knows why.... We run people who violate the rules of our society through the judicial system, apply what we, as a society, determines is a reasonably corrective action, all in the effort to rehabilitate an individual and prepare them to rejoin said society. And then, in a full metal media jerkoff, they run this kind of shit. Now the country, as well as his neighbors, boss, and everyone else, knows this guy's past issues without benefit of the full story. Looks like it might be enough to drive him back to drugs..........good job....Maybe the next guy will think twice about it the next time some young girl screams for help.......

He himself said he's no hero. Was this digging up of dirt really necessary? Rally tacky, IMO. Next time I have a chance to save a baby that falls onto the metro rails, maybe I shouldn't do it, lest my name is dragged through the mud. And apparently, it will. Even if I was caught speeding through a school zone twelve years ago, someone like Paul will come along and say I plowed into a group of school children, killing 16.

= "beat to a pulp" What he did wasn't ok, but he certainly did not beat anyone to a pulp. 8 months was the max sentence he could be given for the level of the crime. They give you a hell of a lot more than 8 months when you beat your wife to a pulp. But, at least we can rest easy knowing there are people out there wanting to dig through everyone's past & drag their name through mud. God forbid we just let someone be a hero for their 15 minutes of fame without pointing out mistakes they made a decade ago.

A fresh cut equals "beaten to a pulp"? Damn, I'm glad Paul isn't doing triage in the ER. A slight, low-grade fever would be called "spontaneous human combustion." Oh Noez!

Let's just agree to say, he did the right thing at the right time, and thank him.
I would hope I would have done the same thing. I think I would have, but until you are in his shoes, who knows?
