I wish I had someone back then to guide me. Since my parents were both immigrants, I didn't have anyone to help me figure out the ropes and help me get scholarships.
This is so me along with my parents told me to get a job and that college was for smart rich people. My youngest sister graduated 4 years after me from a different and my parents would not fill out her fasfa papers, they were too paranoid of the gov't. I have no idea why as they had no money and no assets, never owned their own house etc., the funniest thing was when she did leave for college (she had great mentors who helped with scholarships/loans) she stopped at the end of the driveway and told them that the next time they saw her would be when she graduated from medical school. She lived up to her threat and is a wonderful doctor.
Anyway, I wish I had gone to college anyway regardless of what they said instead of waiting until I was in my 40s. I'm about half way through my bachelors program and its been a long hard road only being able to take 2 classes a semester. But hey, I'm doing it and hope that it pays off.

I got a degree and started to work in industry before deciding to teach in a different subject...(for which I needed another degree) ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/shocked.gif) The thought of being a student again filled me with a morbid dread....but it was a means to an end. I just think my little brain is cluttered with all sorts of junk from the first time round which I don't actually need. It would have been better to make the right decision in the first place and not to have wasted time..

Database Administration. Or programming. I do wish I'd had more exposure to computers before college- That stuff is fun.

Definitely art or graphic design. I only have a moderate level of talent but I think with enough practice/the right instruction I could do something good. I went to a very small, private liberal arts college that actually DOES offer a major in basketweaving. My freshman roommate was an art major and I was always jealous of the awesome baskets she made! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

I would go to Pharmacy school. I gave up on academics that were too "hard" but now I know better. I would stick it out through the tough stuff. But I'm not going to start all over on that many years of school right now!

I really love my job. But if I was going to do it different I would have become a teacher. I love kids, and it's the most ideal career for being a working mom.

Database Administration. Or programming. I do wish I'd had more exposure to computers before college- That stuff is fun. A kindred soul! I graduated from college in 1975, basically before personal computers. I majored in math and accounting, which was the right thing for me at that time. We learned BASIC programming using the mainframe, and saved our programs on punch tapes. Archaic! I was born about 15 years too early. In two years I'll be 62. The university system of Minnesota allows 62 year olds to audit any class in which there is room. There's a two year college less than a mile from my house and I fully plan on taking classes for free!
