12/13 and missed the atmosphere one.
I would have missed the fracking one too if I'd answered coal.

I got 11. But I took an educated guess at a lot of them - so, I'm really good at guessing.

As for how good I am at science. Better than your average citizen, especially in my area of study (physics) and even better in my chosen profession (radiation). But I also know there are "real" scientists out there who know more about those subjects than I do many times over.
Biology might be the exception. My knowledge of biology is probably about average for a college educated individual. But I do know what the primary function of red blood cells are.
If you want to be intellectually humbled, go to a physics symposium.

12/13 and the one I missed is probably the easiest. "Which gas makes up most of the Earth's atmosphere?" I said oxygen. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/shucks2.png)

I scored 13! Not bad for someone with an art history degree! ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/raspberries.png)

I'm surprised so many people are missing the atmosphere one. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/huh.gif)

I was all set to click on "oil" but it wasn't one of the choices.... Well, tell 'em to start fracking on MY fracking land, dammit!! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) Oh, 13/13 by the way.

11/13 - 75% ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/shucks2.png) . I missed the atmosphere one and the lasers.

You answered 11 of 13 questions correctly.
You scored better than 75% of the public, below 15% and the same as 10%.

The two I got wrong were the two I did actually have no clue and kinda guessed. The atmosphere one and the laser one.
GMB we missed the same ones. It also looks like a few missed the atmosphere one, I knew I wasn't right with oxygen but did know what was the right answer.

12/13. Missed the atmosphere one. Didn't really know, figured it wasn't oxygen, so I guess.
Not bad for a non sciencey kinda guy!

13/13..... ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) We have had problems with fracking in that we think it may have caused a slight earthquake in our area. Its use is a contentious issue.

Got 11/13 right. Missed the atmosphere and fracking question. Guessing I am better than the general population but the dumb one on YM ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

13/13 but I'm a science major with an equal smattering of biology, chemistry and physics so no real surprise.
I'm very surprised at how many got the electron/atom question wrong.
I was also surprised that only 20% got the atmosphere question correct (especially only a 30% correct response from college grads) but then I don't think many classes really focus on atmospheric composition. It's kinda just thrown in there with other stuff.

Humans can't even breathe a 50%+ oxygen gas at STP indefinitely. It creates problems in the lungs.
Scuba divers breathing oxygen-rich mixtures at higher pressures are at risk of "oxygen poisoning" in a variety of ways.

Yeah. Remind me how the test was. Multiple choice with four choices, wasn't it? Random guessing with nobody anywhere having ANY idea of which was correct would have yielded 25% correct guesses overall. So not only are the great mass of people who didn't know the answer uneducated on that particular point, but they are also horrendously bad guessers.... ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) I'll leave it to Virgil to explain why this means that a negative number of people actually knew which answer was correct. He enjoys that stuff more than I do....

No offense to anyone who missed any of them, but those were all very easy questions. Well, they're easy if you're really interested in science. Questions about pregnancy are easy for me to answer, but you might struggle with those. I truly don't take any offense; I just like to remind people that some things are easier for some people and not others.
So, I got 10/13. I missed the electron one, but I over thought the question. I missed the atmosphere one and the laser one.
I've never been good at/interested in science.

I missed the atmosphere one and the laser one. I've never been good at/interested in science. LASER is actually an acronym for "Light Amplification through Stimulated Emission of Radiation". Lasers are just beams of light with very specific properties. Not as well-known outside of physics are "masers": Microwave Amplification... Masers actually predate lasers by a bit. Lasers were originally considered "cooler" by the general public because they could produce visible wavelengths of light. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/nerdy.png)

I didn't know what fracking was. That's the only question I got wrong. So I got a score of 85. That's because they aren't fracking where you are. It's a huge issue in NY and PA. Same with Ohio. We have an attorney on our Board of Directors that does nothing but fracking leases for landowners. I missed two (atmosphere and lasers), must be because I went to a state university. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/shucks2.png)
