The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned. You and your thread titles

You and your thread titles truly. the boys were living on their own at the time of the bombing, if memory serves.

Had his wife working 80 hours a week while he worked out 8 hours a day! Gotta love those Islamic values.
They lost their benefits , that's what pissed them off. Since it was taxpayer money ? Why the hold back of information?

When information was first asked for. The reply to the media .... "However, the Department of Transitional Assistance wouldn’t release information about how long or how much they received."
Their reason? It would violate the dead terrorist's right to privacy!

Well this ones a keeper. All of the folks who were wounded in the bombing as well as the family members of those who were murdered who are MA residents as well as anyone else who was substantially affected by the horrific events of the Marathon bombing want to thank you for your support during this difficult time.

$100,000 over 10 years to support a family of four? $10,000 per year divvied up between four people? In other words, $2,500 per person per year? $208 per month?
Six dollars and change per day?
Wow. "The Welfare State where the streets are paved with Gold"... LOL!

LOL! moreover, there is ZERO evidence that both those boys were even PRESENT during that time. the older brother almost certainly was NOT there for most of it, the yonger probably was. but clearly, $100k is the number that we should all have fits about, even though it is less than half of Cheney's TAX BREAK during the first year of Bush tax cuts.

Unless the elder brother got EITC funds I'm missing how MA directly funded the crockpot
pressure cooker bombs.
I think the quibble though should be more about immigration policies in conjunction with assistance programs. MA shouldn't be checking welfare types for terrorism but the federal government needs to do a better job at checking up on people.
I agree the thread title is cruel to those from the Boston area and skates reality. The usual meaning of funding terrorism used to be buying guns, ammo, etc. In this case that would be pressure cookers and ball bearings. I don't think Section 8 housing or food stamps covers either of those.

Reality isn't a requirement when sensationalism is the goal, apparently.

Let's get it straight. They may have been "crackpot" bombs, but they were NOT "crockpot" bombs. The Marathon-event devices employed "Pressure cookers", made of metal, as the casing (or shell) of the devices. Crockpots, made of fired pottery and lacking a pressure-resistant seal, would not have yielded the same results.

Got it- our government spent 100K to attack us. Nothing new- just ask the military- we are used to being shot at with weapons we sold to the shooters. All business around here.

I recall I recently implied someone (I can't remember who) was a ridiculous, worthless, disgusting, hypocritical POS (or something like that) and only got the post deleted. No ban. So unless either of you would be saying something SIGNIFICANTLY worse than that, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Careful. Let's not have this thread exported to the "Recipes" board. I recall hearing some reporter alleging that the Pressure Cooker devices that were used were imports of French manufacture and cost around a $100 apiece. If I recall, they blew up two, threw one at police in pursuit (which failed to detonate?) and were there any more?

Sorry no links, I've just been browsing news stories.
