RCMP thwart 'major terrorist attack' in Canada

TORONTO - A potential bomb plot on a passenger train over the Niagara River has been averted, a police source says.

While officials have not confirmed the train bombing plan, the RCMP are holding a news conference at 3:30 p.m. Monday to outline details of the arrest of what they say was a planned terror plot.

One police source said there were several scenarios being looked at during the year the suspects were tracked, including the train plot.

One of the plots uncovered by the RCMP and other agencies was a planned bombing of a passenger train on the bridge that connects Canada and the United States at Niagara Falls, a police source says.

“The plan was to take out a train with passengers on board and the crossing trestle,” said a source. “It was meant to be spectacular and there would have been a lot of carnage.”

Thanks, SF.  I guess NFPD wasn't overdoing it when they pulled out the bomb robots last week to remove backpacks from the car (w/ MA plates) of a couple of college students.

Canada is our neighbor, our ally, and our friend.  We're more alike than we differ.  Anytime I've been in Canada, I've always felt at home.  It's a bit cold for these southern tootsies, but I love it all the same.  Canada is family.

jiihad means "struggle".  it doesn't necessarily refer to anything military.  it can just as easily be a term applied to overcoming prejudice.

  I have no doubt that nobody will dictate our freedom long term, aside from the ONE thing that has been dictating it for thousands of years. 

I have no doubt that Muslims come here fleeing persecution in their own countries.  I have no doubt that Muslims in our own communities are our best asset against Radical Islam.  However, I have no doubt that almost all Muslims know that Radical Islam is all through their mosques, that is why they are able to help us thwart these attacks.

How it all plays out from here is anyone guess, anyone's guess that is except for whatever it is that causes things to happen that are out of our control.

UN's Falk ties Boston bombs to Obama's Israel trip

UN Human Rights Council’s Palestine monitor Richard Falk has drawn connections between the recent Boston Marathon bombing and US President Barack Obama’s compliance with the State of Israel.

In an article titled “A Commentary on the Marathon Murders” in the online Foreign Policy Journal, Falk, a self-proclaimed advocate of 9/11 conspiracy theories, implies the Boston attack was largely due to Obama’s recent trip to Israel.

“As long as Tel Aviv has the compliant ear of the American political establishment, those who wish for peace and justice in the world should not rest easy,” he writes.

In his essay, Falk compares the marathon bombing to the 2001 destruction of the Twin Towers in New York City, saying that both incidents have led to America embracing “Islamophobic falsehoods.”

He also mentions that the reason for the lack of progress in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and strained relations between the US and Arab nations is the “strong pushback by Israel and its belligerent leader, [Prime Minister Binyamin] Bibi Netanyahu,” which has led to Obama succumbing to the “ethos of Israel.”

He adds that this has led to “accelerating backpedaling in relation to opening political space in the Middle East.”

Falk describes Obama’s recent speech in Jerusalem during his visit to the Middle East as a “love letter to the Israeli public” rather than a demonstration of his belief in peace.
