Ok I realize I been posting in the marathod thread, but I don't plan to run a marathon so I guess I should better post here?
Anyway I ran 6.5 miles this AM in 52 minutes!
My goal is to do between 5 to 7 miles each day M-F with maybe doing 10 miles on one of those days (have to still work up to the 10 mile run though)
I'm thinking this Weds to try for 8 miles and next weds try for 9 miles
Maybe one day down the road do a half marathon or somehting....but thats a long ways off I think..........

I am going to try to work my way up to a 5K. I was doing really good last year then I pinched a nerve in my ankle and have been hobbling around since. It leaves my ankle weak of times so I am thinking about trying a support. As soon as I kick this cold I am jumping on the treadmill and trying it again. Last year it took me 20 minutes to run a mile as I am just a beginner.

Aw, Mr. Bill....you were still welcome anywhere. I'm not planning any more marathons at my age, but a half-marathon is certainly doable. I have a longish run (6-8 miles) planned for tomorrow. Should have been today, but I still have a blister on my toe closing up. I ran every day I was out of town, which also took a bit of a toll.

I would like to introduce you to the toe bandaid. It is round and cushioned and fits over your toe. They are found in either the bandaid section or where the Dr. Scholls stuff is sold. Since they are foam, I learned by accidentally leaving one in a sock, that they can go through the laundry in a bag and be reused.
These bandaids as well as blister preventive bandaids for the heel are my friend.
I am a real tender foot. I have been told that keeping the feet well oiled helps prevent foot irritations. Many times, it is the sock that is the culprit. It took me years to figure that out.
I have a bag of blister first aid stuff that I carry with me if I know I will be doing long walks in boots with foot sweating. I have a picture in the photo album of my quarter-size raw to the meat blistered area from boots.

So true! I run in Smart Wool toe socks so that every toe is protected by fabric and doesn't rub against the others. The last time I had a blister was at the end of my marathon, and that was to be expected!
