![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/yeahthat.gif) Except that I almost always disagree with him.... Let's keep this nice though folks. Oh, that's not going to be possible.... ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

I always picture Paul wearing a sparkly green blazer with a tie covered in question markes yelling at me in an infomerical like Billy Mays. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png) Mine is purple and has exclamation marks- and I whisper. Differentiation is critical.

OK, I just found his pic on-line and he looks sooooo different than I ever pictured him.
Ruhk, I never saw the thread on single mothers and his opinion on it. I think he gets a lot more insults that he gives. In a flower-shop thread someone compared him to a goat. I know it's not exactly calling someone a name, but pretty close to it, and yet mods didn't blink an eye

Personally, I like to argue. And sometimes its easier to go to PM and hash it out with online yoohoos than threaten iRL relationships. I'd guess Paul has a high, I needs to argue threshold... ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/yeahthat.gif) I like to argue. I can dish it out, I can take it, and I can even admit it when I'm wrong- which is very, very rare- but it does happen. Even to me. I enjoy a good verbal sparing- and yes, verbal is the right word, because verbal can be in writing or spoken. However, and maybe I'm just getting old, I think that the lack of a conscious thought in any discussion- and instead the constant firing back and forth talking points, is boring. I have lost patience, too, with the raw, unadulterated ignorance of the actual issue, the willful ignoring of the issue for the sidebar, the distraction, the avoidance of anything of substance to avoid losing political points. AND, with respect to one story in particular- the Kermit Gosnell story- I was at least encouraged to see several prominent liberals now coming forward and admitting that there's a conscious media blackout of the story, and they object to it. I agree. BTW- I didn't like it when the Bush administration prevented coverage of the war dead returning home. I know the left wanted to use flag draped coffins as propaganda- but the First Amendment is kind of the deal in this country, and if you can't defend your decisions against the political "optics" get a new job. I'm just bored with the lack of thought, and the utter denial by some of the facts. I mean, what's to discuss when you can't agree that the sky is blue or that objects on earth in a vacuum fall at a rate of 32 feet per second squared? (The AGW hoax, for example- it's over. I'm actually embarrassed for people that can't or won't accept this fact.) And I've lost patience with a lot of political discussion because it's not a discussion anymore. Tonight President Obama said that several weeks ago, in the wake of the tragedy at Newtown, CT, America took on the challenge of reducing gun violence- referring to the failed Senate legislation today. No, actually the country doesn't give a shit about gun control. A grand total of 4% of voters favor gun control AND think it's "and important issue". But do these people care? No. And just because he said the word "common sense" once for every one of the $6 trillion in new debt he's run up doesn't make it "common sense". And this is just the kind of example of the lack of discussion and discourse- the talking AT people, instead of with them that defines political discussion today. Obama and the Democrats are wrong on the issue. The Constitution and a whole bunch of gun owners stood as a big enough threat to enough of our elected officials, that there weren't enough of them to pass legislation that undermines our rights. That's anything but a shameful day in America- which is Obama's description of it. No, a shameful day in America is when basically two bombs go off killing innocent civilians in one of our largest cities during one of our countries cultural institutions- IEDs featured in an islamist instruction manual, and of the type used by the failed Times Square bomber and other IEDs used by islamist around the world, and we still don't know who did it- but the writers at Salon sure hope it's a white guy because if it's not, it might derail the whole left wing political agenda. It's a shameful day in America when the President and his administration following a terrorist attack on US soil have so little credibility because they burned it lying about Benghazi with the awkard, and silly lie about the video being the impetus and it being a spontaneous attack because if they admitted our embassy was assaulted in a carefully planned, coordinated al-qaeda led attack by jihadists, it would threaten little Barry's re-election. And it's a shameful day in America, when no matter what, you can't get a Democrat to have the slightest bit of shame over this because the liberal agenda takes precedent over right, wrong, and the truth.

But yeah, I probably have some controversial opinions on single motherhood- like "don't do it". Complicated, I know.

In fairness, the poll is asking what Americans think is the most important problem. Even the article is misrepresenting that fact. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

A quick search found a slew of other polls with quite different numbers. I always consider the source, and Paul's source is far from unbiased. Alas, it's late, and I just don't have the energy to get into this tonight.

Especially when the question asked is: What do you think is the most important problem facing the country today?”
Americans, contrary to what Paul may think, are able to juggle a few issues all at the same time.

On paul's survey link, it also states a grand total of 2% of voters think welfare is an important issue. So I guess we shouldn't be hearing any more complaints here about welfare and the women who have babies just to live off of welfare. 98% of Americans simply don't care using paul's interpretation of the survey.

YM, meet Tenn. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) Legend has it that if you subject an atom of Paulium to a Tennectric field, it will generate enough energy to power P&M until 2018.

I think the number one priority is to get the illegals out. Then bring our troops home to keep them out. Stop being the worlds police. If a country wants our help, they pay for it. Get the UN out of the USA, time for another country to host it. There's so many ways to Improve our own welfare for our own citizens instead of bribing people who hate our guts. Then, no more student visas for anyone. These people have universities in their own countries or they can go to a country that has one, not ours.

You fail to realize why your government is involving itself in these conflicts since 2003. If you think it has anything to do with policing the world and preventing terrorism, you'd be roughly 1/2 of 1% correct. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/undecided.png)

It is not the source of the poll or results of the actual poll that I take exception to. I have a problem with the story by CNS News that grossly mischaracterized the results of the poll.
The poll asked the respondents to identify what they feel is the MOST important problem. Just because people said they thought the economy was the most important, it doesn't mean they don't consider the other issues to be important. I would hazard a guess that many Americans also think that taxes, welfare, healthcare, immigration, the federal budget deficit, etc. are important issues. I can't believe that only 2 percent of Americans think taxes and welfare are important. The respondents just may not prioritize them as the most important. They had to pick one issue. The word "important" is the key to the poll.
