We are in the process of hiring someone to assist me at the office. Anyway, there are a series of tests that are required prior to getting an interview. I was hired on about 17 months ago, so I decided to ask HR how I did when I took the required tests. The results were pretty funny. Apparently when I took the psychological evaluation test I failed. In fact there are several red flags and warning signs in my personnel file indicating that I am an unstable individual. Maybe I am, who knows. They hired me anyway, my performance reviews have been great, and I have gotten two decent raises. Kind of makes me wonder if being unstable is a requirement for my job.
Anyone else ever have to take a psychological evaluation test before being hired?

The Fortune 100 company I used to work for used psychological evaluations to determine if candidates were suitable for management positions. This went on for close to 10 years. Finally one of the senior executive types went through the evaluation. He was found to be unsuitable for the roles he had been suceeding at for more than a decade. Shortly thereafter the headshrinker was put out to pasture.

I don't know how long the company will keep doing it, they are in the process of revamping their hiring procedures. I held my last job for 20+ years, so if I'm not mentally stable, at least I'm loyal.

No, but I had to take a test for basic lab math during one job interview I went on. I found 3 mistakes in the exam, and it was only 10 questions long!

I was told I was overqualified for that job.

No. I had to recite random scientific factoids during an interview though. I could perfectly describe how to execute a cre/lox transgenetic mouse model but since I couldn't quote exactly how many proteins there are in the human body I didn't impress the guy.

I want to know which clown Bob killed. I'm pretty sure it was justifiable homicide at any rate. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

I had to do a personality test and math type exam. I got to see results from both when I was hired. The personality exam was dead on.

I had to take a mental agility test. This job requires you to juggle a lot of projects and switch gears between the 2 sides of your brain. The test was a mix of verbal problems, fairly simple math word problems, and abstract reasoning tests. My brain is a bit ADD-addled and I had a good time with it. I finished a lot more problems than the HR lady expected and must have gotten enough right to pass. A co-worker told me she did very few problems but they were amazed because she got every single one right.
