So my In-laws house sold and we signed the contract yesterday. I have to say, my emotions were ALL over the place. Wanting it to sell, hoping it didn't. Trying to be supportive of my DH but needing support myself. And my BIL called and said basically 'send me the rest of the money we were using to pay the bills'. (DH had the account being used to pay the utility bills and insurance.) Everything hasn't cleared but I guess BIL thought we were going to try to pocket the $$$. Another story.
But thanks for letting me vent for the past few months and thanks for all of your comments. I know I was being unrealistic at times and you guys helped me see that I was.

![](http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/smileys/hug.gif) You've made it through a difficult patch. I feel your pain. (Still working on cleaning out my parent's house.) In my case, I don't know, when it's ready to sell, if the new owner will want to fix it up, or bulldoze it to build their dream home. (That's becoming more common in my parent's community.) Glad you at least got past signing the paperwork. Your BIL sounds like a piece of work. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png)

Happyscooter - Congratulations for getting through and you may want to deduct half the value of the bank account from the proceeds.

Happy, would it be worth contacting an attorney about? (The bank account BIL took.)

Sarah, yes we will split it straight down the middle-AFTER all bills are paid. Should be in the next 30 days. busy, the account had BIL's name on it as beneficiary. So legally it was his. Just like the money that had my DH listed as 'joint' on my FIL's account legally belonged to DH. Right of survivorship and DH could have kept all of it. But he didn't. Believe me we could have had a TON of money and justified it like BIL did.
