When you are young, your metabolism is fast, you can eat just about anything, drink a ton of alcohol, etc. and you burn it out.....BUT, you usually can't afford too much of this stuff when you are young
Then when you are older and you are more likely to have the money to eat out a bunch of times and buy kegs regularly, etc., but you start gaining a spare tire................
Rant over

I don't think so, Mr.Bill. Maybe slow down aging process to a some degree. "Live fullest" each passing stage of your life...

Just make sure you pass your weight/fitness test until you retire!! I already made 19, so it will take a lot to stop me now .... but I am well within Ht/Wt and usually score high on APFT

I don't know how old you are, Mr. Bill, but I lost 20 lbs. over the last 2 years and now weigh less than I did when I got out of HS- and that was in 1971. Eat less, move more. Really boring, but that's how it works. I'm on zero prescriptions. This past week I ran a mile race (under 10 minutes) and a half-mile (4:29). The week before I did a 3-mile bike race and I have a sprint triathlon (1/3 mile lake swim, 9 miles on the bike, 5K) on Father's Day. My time for the mile was a full minute less than it was 6 years ago.
Back away from the keg and get off the couch. You can do it.

'I guess if I start running marathons I can eat and drink what I want?'
This was DH's philosophy (sp) until he blew out both achilles tendons and had to stop running. Unfortunately he didn't stop eating and got up to 240 lbs and thought he was great. Then he had a heart attack and was told to cut way down on sodium.
So I cut out all the sodium I could and he has learned, sorta, about portion control. He is now down to 175 lbs and has stayed there for almost a year. It's too bad he had to learn this at his age, 75. He could have learned self control on everything many years ago. He is the type that pushes the limits .. and is now getting into trouble.
If I make the decisions for him, then he blames me. I refuse to make decisions for him so he is getting better at thinking things through.

It doesn't have to! I know people that are turning back the clock by eating really nutritionally!!! Key is getting those toxins out of our bodies then taking in nutrient rich foods!

Oh my gosh .. unless there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with one's liver and kidneys ( whose job it is to clean toxins out of one's body), then there's really not a need to worry about "getting toxins out." And, of course, if there IS something seriously wrong with one's liver or kidneys, one should seek appropriate professional medical attention from a health care provider.
