We are in need of a few home improvements. I would like to change a few things since we are going to be spending the time and money to improve. We live in a 2 story house. We need a new roof. This is the ONLY thing that I will hire someone to fix as our roof is extremely sloped and I will not get up there to help. And yes, I will get an insurance card from the roofing company and I will call the insurance company to make sure the coverage is still valid. Other than that, I am wanting to add a few things. I want to take down a few things and I was wondering if any of you know of a website where I could post a picture of our house and change the colors of the outside or change what it would look like with new/different windows, etc... DH and I (yes I do help-I am the runner, back and forth to the garage, attic, driveway, garbage, etc...) have the time and money to do this. However, I don't want to mess anything up and have to live with a shoddy looking job.

The web site for Valspar paint has a tool that should do what you want regarding paint colors. I would bet other paint and window sites would have something similar.

I hired a color consultant when I had to reprint the exterior of the house (required by the HOA) but it was $100 well spent. I went with colors that I never would have considered and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Good idea. We will have to paint exterior soon and although I like the exterior color, maybe I'd like something else instead.

zib, I like the outside also. But since the new roof HAS to be done, we might as well change it now if we want to.
The Valspar website was good. It will let me download a picture of our house and click on different colors.

Benjamin Moore has the tool as well, I think. I used it when we had the house painted.
I still ended up putting paint samples up against the siding to see how they would look. Even then, it felt like a shot in the dark although we did make sure to choose all the colors (main color and trim) from the same card.
However, we LOVE the color of our house. We loved it from the moment of the first stroke!

I think I will love the color, we just aren't sure if painting vinyl siding will look cheap. If so, it stays like it is.

I went with colors that I never would have considered and I am so pleased with how it turned out. Great advice. We had our exterior trim repainted 3 times a couple of summers ago because we kept choosing the wrong color. By that point Sherwin Williams offered us a color consultant for free and the lady totally nailed it on the third try. I will never paint again without hiring one.
