I hate when I'm in a restaurant and the waitress/waiter says, in response to a request from me, "Not a problem." As in, "I'll have the cheeseburger and fries please", and she says "Not a problem." No kidding its not a problem. Its on your menu, its not like I'm making some off the wall request. Seems to be the go-to phrase of servers these days, at least in my limited experience.
Also, when watching HGTV (which pretty much drives me up the wall 100% of the time these days) I hate when people use the word "space" instead of "room" or call a master bathroom an "on suite". Makes me want to gouge my eardrums out.

Can't stand the phrase "the new normal". Yeah, that phrase bugs me too. You can't force "normal." It just happens. And I also hate it when people refer to their house or room as "my living space."

I've never heard the term "belly button" applied in a sense to a business leader or manager. Maybe it's a regional thing?

OH! Here's a good one!
Is it Soda, Pop, or Coke?! Is it supper or dinner?
I often use Soda or Coke interchangably.
I've ocasionally been known to refer to the evening meal as supper, but usually I refer to it as dinner.

I call the evening meal "dinner", my DH calls it "supper". To me, a supper is something we have at church (as in, "We're going to the church supper). DH calls "lunch" dinner.
In the northern midwest, we pretty much all say "pop". I think it depends on which part of the country you are from.

At my old place of employment we had a board member who said supper and got upset when our schedule of events for our annual conference said dinner. The next year he called the office and requested we use the word supper instead of dinner. I couldn't believe he actually cared that much

I struggle with unintentional pop culture references because my brain follows the lyric or whatever more than the conversation at hand. It's very distracting.

honey - some of those are valid - like when you are talking about a particular brand of toothpaste. ROI is a pretty important concept, too. I guess I'm not as burned out on the corporate as I thought. One thing I hate is that young people have changed the word "literally" to mean "figuratively." I'm not ready for that word to mean literally the opposite of what it has meant for a long time. "I literally died." "My jaw literally hit the floor." "I literally stopped breathing." And all I can think is "If you continue to use literally wrong, I will make all those things literally happen."

I was thinking that I had never heard it, either, and I don't like the connotations, because the belly button is pretty useless to anyone who has ever lived past birth. It is just a place to collect useless lint. But, there was a guy that I worked with a long, long time ago that called our headcount report "The belly button report." I asked him once if we had any employees that didn't have a head. We all laughed, and laughed. Man, I am so whitty.

At least people have stopped using the term "paradim shift". I just wanted to say 'typical business cycle'. And when DH's cousin was telling someone she was an "Out of the Box Thinker" I wanted to say, you mean you have a wild *ssed idea that you haven't spent the time researching? She's a nice person but some of the ideas...

I hate "whatever." I also hate "chill." That's because it's usually high school seniors saying it to me. I think both are mildly disrespectful. I don't have trouble with "paradigm shift" if you are talking about technology and education. Trust me, it's here. This is job specific, but I hate when administrators talk about "differentiated instruction" and "common assessment" in the same breath. Whatever.

I get tired of hearing " aren't you done yet?" Usually followed by "do you need a Kleenex?"

I hate it when people use the term borrow when they really mean lend. Will you borrow me a dollar? No, but I will LEND you one!

"Reaching out".
I hate that one. As in, we're reaching out to all our customers... No, you're not. You're contacting your customers!
No matter how that phrase is used, I always think less of the person or organization who uses it.

Teachable moment so deliberate I guess.... "Veggies" the cuteness here always bothers me..JMHO "We're pregnant" speaks for itself "Reaching out" vs. getting in touch, calling or contacting

I started saying "CRUNCH!" instead of "oh snap". I also think it's funny that "logistics" is on the list, considering I work in logistics.

"Let me axe you a question" "What did you have for brefix (breakfast)?" "I ain't seen nothing like that here" Sometimes I just shake my head. "You gotta cut my lights on" - um, no, we cut them OFF because you didn't pay. Pay, and we will be glad to TURN them on for you.
