How often do you order things online? This weekend alone, I ordered from three different places. My reasoning (to myself) is because I live 100 miles away from the nearest mall. I need to order clothes. I also ordered some quality omega-3 supplements that I cannot find in a store. The other thing I ordered was with a 20% coupon that expires today. Also, I pay for these things when I receive my credit card bill so it is not like I am going into debt from online shopping. That makes it okay, right? ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) And, I use everything I order. If I don't like it, I return it.

This spring - often! There was an entire week where packages were showing up every day. It was like Christmas! I had free shipping and there were amazing sales and discounts. Woo Hoo!! I ordered throw pillows, shoes, clothes, cushions and was going to order some new make up I wanted to try but ended up finding everything at Target while I was there. DH always orders electronic type things on the internet. We have been stimulating more than the economy! And yes - your reasons are valid. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

Mostly convenience. I don't really like shopping so I'm not willing to give up a lot of my personal time to it. Two examples: I have a favorite brand of shoes and know what size will fit, so I just go to the store's web site, browse when I feel like it, and the shoes are in the mail. I'm not so picky that I'll have a fit if it's the wrong shade of puce. Today, I was looking for a WaterPik; mine quit and my dental hygienist recommends it to keep my expensive mouth in good condition (2 implants, lots of crowns and bridges). Target had their "WaterFlosser" in various models; that's not what I want. I know because I once bought one by mistake. Went to CVS. Same deal. Got on AAdvantageshopping.com (may as well get a few extra airline miles), and in 5 minutes I found it and ordered it.
We buy on-line probably once a month.

We buy online about once a week or so. However, I am big on "in-store pickup" unless shipping is free. I bought Glad kitchen garbage bags, for example, this week from Staples ($9.99) with free shipping with a rewards card.
I only buy clothes online if there is a brick-and-mortar store that I can return to for free. LL Bean is great about free shipping, but I bought something that didn't fit. Returning it would pretty much cost me almost half of what I paid (it was on sale). I found it easier to donate it.

Other than the local food and pet stores, I purchase everything on line. The thought of going to a mall makes me nauseous.

Today I ordered a sprinkler and a timer for my garden hose from Amazon. I was going to drive 60 miles to the nearest city but didn't want to waste all day shopping when I know I have a very stressful 2 weeks at work starting tomorrow.

Way to much lately. I bought some tshirts for spring this week because I don't need to try them on, I already have some like them. I bought some sandals. I have been looking for a shower curtain, but have not bought one yet. I ordered a baby shower gift. I buy 8lb tubs of coconut and palm oil and whatever other oil strikes me online. I buy tons of fragrance for soap online because there is no where to get it around here. Same for color. I'm always waiting for my box lately! I do hate to pay shipping so I try to get enough to get the free shipping. Makes sense right? ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

I buy batteries every month. I buy other things such as printer ink as needed. I use my Discover card points and order through Amazon to save money.

LOL! I think Amazon must think this message board is its favorite customer! Sounds like quite a few of us make good use of it. I order almost everything online. Don't like to shop, and don't like to leave mother alone. Having it shipped just makes sense for me. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

I don't normally buy much online. Not much for preference of shopping instore as jeans and such really need to be tried on IMO. This past month I have ordered 9 prom dresses. And returned 6 so far. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) I would have gone to the store and had DD try them on to see what fit and looked good on her but they didn't have much selection for dresses or sizes. If they don't want me to order so much only to return most of it they can stock the stores better. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) I also ordered a new mattress online this month. I think I spent more online this month than most of my life combined. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

I very, very seldom buy anything online. I have every store known to man within a 25 min drive, most within 15 min or I generally pass at least weekly. i NEVER buy clothes or shoes online-too difficult to be sure of fit.
I bought a new printer in nov w/ free shipping-not available at the store at the online price. I bought several bday and next Christmas gifts for the grands in the past couple of months but w/free ship to store.
I have seen several items I would buy from Amazon BUT never enough $$ involved to get FREE shipping and the shipping costs blasted near as much/more than the item.

I usually just add enough things to my cart to get the free shipping.

I've turned into Amazons best customer. Most of what I've ordered I can't find locally. Add to that, the cost of gas to run around looking for something is usually the same or higher than the shipping costs. The last item of irritation with local shopping is our 9% sales tax.
Amazon has now allowed you to link your rewards credit cards, so I've been paying with reward points. My last purchase which is now on it's way is a new Keurig coffeemaker. Cost was $179.99, I used $104 reward points and then added a gift card of $ 25 which brought my cost down to $50. No where locally could I have gotten such a great deal.
WoooHoooo!!! I love online shopping!!!!

DH has a cochlear implant and uses 3 hearing aid size batteries about every 3 days. Instead of paying $8-$10 for 6-8 batteries at a drug store, I pay $16-$18 for a box of 60 batteries (including shipping).
I have purchased clothes online if it's a company I know and have tried on clothes before such as Lands End.
I order online if the price is much better such as cell phone battery for $5 or $6 vs. $50 in a local store.
Used books can alo be a bargain. Much easier to find online instead of digging through bins of dusty books at a used bookstore.
I also order for a friend who doesn't see well. She just got some games with Braille letters so a blind friend can play. She had so many Discover points that several of her purchases were free.
Shipping costs can be free and the item costs under $50. It depends on the seller.
I place most orders through Amazon in order to use the rewards points.

Other than groceries, I probably do 90% of my shopping online.
The internet is the only place where they make pants that are long enough, and I like getting presents in the mail.

When the kids were little, I bought everything on-line. I realized that Ann Taylor's sizing was very consistent, so I would just onto their sale page and buy anything that I even remotely liked in my size and wear it to work. It was much easier to me than going to a mall with young kids. I saw other people in the mall with their 4 year olds in strollers, eating ice cream - but that never happened with my kids. They were always running around and I was afraid Paul would spank them with a wooden spoon and give me a lecture. So, I just skipped shopping.
I am a huge Zappos fan - free shipping, both ways!

but the ups guy stops at our house at least once a week
from doggie treats......30% of what the local shop sells them for
to my wife ordering thru amazon for shoes, scarfs, bedding, etc
i dont mind paying slightly more to the local guy.....but i am not going to pay 30-40% more on the same thing

I'm also an Amazon Prime member. I hate going to malls and shopping. I order diapers and chewing gum and hockey tape from amazon and it shows up at my house 2 days later for cheaper than I can buy it in the store. Perfection!!!

I looooove amazon! We buy a lot of stuff from here and in the last week spent around $1500.00. But this is a once a year amount usually so no biggie. It's like Christmas around here for the next couple of weeks ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/party.gif)

I "shop" a fair amount online - as in, comparison shop. When it comes to buying I have the same experience as a few others: by the time I pay shipping and taxes, it costs the same (or more) to buy online. And sometimes the shipping charge IS larger than the item being purchased ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/sad.png) . And then I have to wait for whateveritis to arrive. So after doing my homework I tend to buy as much as possible in-person from local and regional stores and vendors. I live in a large metro area, so this is easy. JMHO YMMV

I do a lot of online shopping. I do much more now that we have kids. I actually love to shop, but it's too hard with a toddler and an infant. I get most of the kids' clothes and my clothes online plus books, odds and ends, etc. I rarely pay for shipping, and I almost always have coupons, shop sales, etc. It's just really convenient.

I've done a fair amount of online shopping. Usually things I order online are things I don't buy every day. I buy pretty much all my electronic/computer stuff and textbooks (when I was doing classes) online. A lot of times you can get electronics and computer stuff for way cheaper online than you can at say best buy. Same with textbooks, the campus bookstore is way overpriced. When I buy stuff for my job at work, it's almost always online unless it's something simple like office supplies or batteries. Just saves time and lets me get more work done when I order online.
For the most part, I don't pay shipping because I don't order stuff I can get easily or cheaply locally. Plus there's usually no sales tax.
I also buy many of the video games I play through steam, which is like a digital download service. Many times they are cheaper than in the stores because the publisher doesn't have to pay for things like packaging and distrubution of a disc.
I do most of my Christmas shopping online. It's a lot easier to order online and have the gifts shipped to either my sister or my parents instead of buying stuff here and hauling them back to Indiana.
Overall, I'd hardly call it a addiction. I'm about as far from shopping addiction as one can get. I turn to online shopping many times because I DON'T like shopping. It's far easier and faster to let your fingers do the walking.
I will admit, I have never bought clothes or shoes online. I would not feel comfortable ordering anything I wear online because I don't know if it would fit.
As for if it's "necessary," depends on the item. Some of the stuff is most certainly wants, others are needs. Either way I can afford it. I've never gone into CC debt, ever.

Love prime! We love a certain kind of coffee we can't find anywhere else. I also just set up "subscribe & save" for a ton of household stuff, mostly heavy crap that takes up a lot of room when I'm shopping for groceries (tp, cat litter, pet food, cleaning supplies). I also use it to send gifts all the time, most of our family is out of state, so shipping from Amazon with prime is so much easier and cheaper than going to a store & buying a gift, packaging it and then taking it to PO to be mailed.

I buy a lot of clothes from Loft & Lands End, both can be returned at our local mall if need be so no return shipping costs. Same with Shoebuy.com.
