Nope. An emergency situation would have been different but I made it to week 39. If my boss had waited till then to start thinking about what to do when I was gone I'd consider that pretty short sighted of him. My maternity leave shouldn't come as a shock.

I'm sure my maternity leaves were an inconvenience, but I spoke with every boss who could be even remotely affected to let them know how my pipeline would be covered.
The difference as I see it though, is that maternity leave shouldnt be a shock to management, and it should be relatively simple to get a plan together. If she was put on bedrest at 5 months, that would have been a shock, and everyone would pitch in to help out.
If management doesn't even ask the question of how are we going to cover for this person until they are 8 months pregnant, that is ridiculous.

They figured that they'd stick other employees with doing her job. They may be right but they may not be. I wouldn't be inconveniencing myself for another employee. Good luck to them. Have you talked to your DH about finding another place to work? They sound totally incompetent and poor business owners.

Eh- Dh likes them, and they have some really good benefits. He asked me to stop suggesting new jobs for him. Whoops. He can't tech forever though. He's been at it 10 years and his back and knees are feeling it. Not to mention its not healthy to work graveyards for so long.

It is frustrating when you are hired for a certain schedule, and then it gets changed on you. That happened to me the last time I worked for my current company. (I left and ended up coming back.) I was supposed to work Monday through Friday with Thursday being an afternoon shift. After a year I got moved to a Tuesday through Saturday schedule with every Thursday and Saturday being an afternoon shift. Then they moved my location. It stunk. That's why I left. Of course I learned the grass isn't always greener ... ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)
