I am helping pull together the information for my grandmothers tax return who passed away in August of 2010. It is a simple return, not a whole bunch to it. It is marked across the top with the date she passed away.
My question is, is there a place on the return to mark "Final Return"? Or do i even need to signify that?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Add the word "Deceased" after your grandmother's name in the name and address section. Add the date of death across the top of the return. Are you the personal representative? That is who needs to sign the return. IRS instructions: www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc356.htmlSo very sorry for your loss.

With the date of death, this is the final return. Any further ones would be estate or trust.

Thank you both! My aunt is the representative and will be signing the return.
I appreciate the help.
