I have a question about making HSA contributions to my HSA "account".
I take advantage of the HSA medical benefit here in the office and have monthly contributions taken out of my pay.
The HSA web site has a link where you can make additional contributions via electronic means by hooking it up to a bank account. I would like to make a temporary contribution to cover some upcoming expenses. Let's say the contribution will be $300 for example.
Would this "one time" contribution be pre-tax. If so, how do I account for this so I would get the pre-tax benefit? Like where on my 2013 tax return?
Thanks!

SF...go talk to your payroll dept. Our HSA plan allows you to change your HSA withholding prospectively at the beginning of a month. I frontload my HSA account so I get my deductible in my acount earlier in the year. We can change the amount withheld every month as long as it is divided out by the remaining payroll periods in the year. Ie. I elected $2500 and put $96.15 per week in the HSA so my election will be met after 26 weeks. I will then probably increase my election and put at least another $1,000 in there. If you could do this via payroll you will get the pretax benefit (FICA savings) - if you can't wait till your HSA is fully funded then you are probably stuck.
I already have met my HSA family deductible of $2500. I had $$ in the account from last year so I have enough to pay all the bills until my w/h catches up to my expenditures.

Bean, I do have payroll deductions plus the company kicks in, I believe $400 at the beginning of the year. Periodically they run incentive programs such as, for example, if you participate in a health fair they run and get your cholesterol checked, they'll kick in a few hundred.
