Doesn't get very consistent reviews...

That's lovely, lonewolf! What a pretty focal point for a garden nook! Sorry to hear your potatoes bit the dust but, at least, you know it works. Maybe you can replant now that the weather is more likely to be cooperative.

I'm growing potatoes in an old laundry basket...an idea I found online & decided to try. I just got them put into the dirt this week, so nothing yet.
Another great idea I found this year, tried & it worked was using 2 liter soda bottles for self watering planters. I currently have a great herb garden going in my laundry room. I have chives, thyme, cilantro, basil, tarragon, and dill. All are being grown in reused/recycled 2 liter soda bottles.
I also learned & it works, that you can take a cut head of romaine lettuce (or celery or green onions) & put the root end into a bowl of water & the lettuce will start to regrow. I've had 2 salads this week that came from "regrown" lettuce I started about a month or so ago.

We have 2 gardens, first one is 75 feet long x 35 feet wide, second one is 20x20 & is for all the vine plants (we're going verticle this year!). Here's the complete list of what we planted this week....
Tomatoes: Roma, regular cherry, purple cherry!, grape, Ruetger's heirlooms, Better Girls, Big Boys & beefsteak Beans: French green beans, stringless green beans, yellow wax beans, black eye'd peas & purple hull peas Peppers: Jalapeno, Habinero, Serrano, Sweet red cherry, Hot red cherry, cayennes, mini bell peppers 3 kinds of corn (mostly white) regular cucumbers & Boston pickling cucumbers Cantalopes Sugar baby watermelons crook neck squash radishes
I have 3 kinds of lettuce growing in the laundry room: romaine, red leaf, and regular leaf lettuce. Along with all the herbs that are growing in my laundry room (has 2 HUGE windows & a built shelf right under the window)
My potato basket has new red potatoes & new white potatoes planted.
*whew*

My plants popped yesterday ... Now so long as they make it thru the next 48 hours frost predicted. I did 3 barrels and 2 bins.

This is such a neat idea. I'll be interested to see how it works for those of you who try it.

Just as an aside, lonewolf, you can delete your own duplicate posts, if you want to. Just click on the little gear symbol at the top far right of your reply box and choose "Delete Post". It'll go bye-bye.

No problem, hon. I think a lot of our posters aren't aware of that option, and we're all having trouble with duplicate posts. I delete them when I see them, but it's possible for posters to just delete their own. I know it's irritating to have that keep happening!
