We want to go to St. martin for thanksgiving. Has anyone been there? What resorts did you stay in? Which side should we stay in, French or Dutch?

We went to St. Martin a couple years ago. We stayed on the French side at this resort www.oysterbaybeachresort.com/We only stayed there because a friend owns a time share and we got some deal through that to stay there. I don't know if they just take reservations or if you have to go through a time share.

Yeah, we liked it there. The rooms weren't as luxurious as probably some of the other resorts on the island that we could see, but our room was right on the ocean. As far as the resort I liked the atmosphere there. It seemed more like a resort than just a giant Radisson or something.

We booked it. We tried for little divi but because we waited so long, all that was left was oyster bay beach resort. But I'm excited! Thanksgiving on the island!

Cripe, in re-reading, I realize you stayed where we are staying. Hope you liked it!

Heading there Saturday. Bit nervous about all the rain but it is what it is. Hopefully, we will have some nice days.

The French side of the island is quieter and has more of a European feel. That said, it's not all that big an island, so if you're looking for some night life, rent a car and head for the Dutch side. I preferred to stay on the French side. Food's better, there aren't fast food joints everywhere, and the beaches are lovely. I'm not a party gal, though. I like to just lean back and relax.
Have a great time!

Lotsa night life on that side of the island, zib. It's more "American" in its feel. Either side, I think you'll have a great time.

Okay, we are back. Other than avoiding the time share "hustle" it was really nice. Super nice people and very relaxed. Felt very safe. Food good enough and weather was better than what we left. All in all, good time.

I'm resurrecting this rather than starting a new thread. So who has stayed on the French side? I just made plans to go next Feb and I think I prefer to stay on the French side in Orient Bay. Anyone have any hotel experience there?
