Well, lessee ... Looks like that's a border patrol vehicle. It's got "Immigration and Customs Enforcement" written on it, and an ICE decal. I'd say these vehicles are likely to be used to increase the safety of our border patrol and to serve, possibly, for illegal alien transport. Frankly, that sounds like a darned good idea to me.

I would pretty seriously doubt that, lonewolf, but each to his/her own opinion. I imagine the rounds of ammunition are for practice (all these folks do have to qualify yearly), but I don't know. That wasn't the question here.

If that's your take, lonewolf, that's your take. I've read all the blogosphere's scare stories, too. I just don't buy in. Supplying our border patrol with advanced technology to aid in their work and protect them while they do it seems perfectly logical to me; especially, since some people are clamoring for a more proactive stance in that area. I follow the logic.

I love the fact that your own citizens are more worried about having that stuff used internally than the citizens of the 2 countries you share the continent with.

Not as sexy...or fun...but I bet you could buy a lot of fencing with the money spent on them. Just sayin'.

We aren't concerned at all, it's you guys that should be worried. I know some will argue I'm sticking my neck out here and shouldn't reveal the "master plan" but I have internet anonimity so....the whole idea is to lull adjacent countries into a fall sense of scecurity and then take them over.

ROFL! You guys are priceless! Actually, some people actually do buy into this sort of thing. It's pushed hard by its supporting contingent. I find it rather sad.

I believe it is, yes, lonewolf. People hold different views on what to do about the problem, but I do believe the administration recognizes it as a problem. Some business owners, on the other hand, don't see it as a problem at all. There are differing opinions on what, if anything, should be done.

That wasn't the question here. Possible they got a real good deal thus the quantity and if they are arming with semi and automatic weapons...need lots of rounds for practice as mmhmm suggested.... As far as the vehickles...unless there were hugh quantitys purchased..as mmhmm said..just normal requirements..they are spending $ on border security and one of the things on Obamas list of things to do is try and come up with a comprehensive immigrant policy and one of the criteria to get conservatives on board is to tighten up, even more then it has, the border..the guards..patrols..the fences... I would suggest to relax a bit and see how it all plays out before going over board with the fears and paranoia...just a thought.

Do you know how many people fall under the broad umbrella of homeland security these days? It's a big ass agency. Border Patrol alone has 21,444 agents according to Wiki. Let's say they each qualify with their sidearm annually. We'll say their qualification test consists of firing a single 10 round magazine, reloading and firing another 10 round magazine. 20 total bullets.
21,444 * 20 = 428,880
Almost half a million rounds and they haven't had a single agent fire a practice shot at the range. That's just for annual qualification. We'd be at over 850,000 rounds if they fired two clips at the range once a year to practice, and two clips at the range to qualify. That's a hella bare bones firearms training program and it's getting up near a million rounds a year. Just for border patrol.
There are other agencies that fall under homeland security. They need to stay qualified on their sidearms as well.
People see numbers like 2 million rounds and assume it's a lot. It's barely anything. If they were honestly expecting to pacify the country they'd be placing orders for hundreds of millions of rounds.
The armored trucks are to combat highly armed drug cartels running guns and drugs on the border. Those guys don't fuck around and they kill border patrol agents while they're on patrol every year.

Found this one though..sooooo www.infowars.com/ministry-of-homeland-security-rolls-out-armored-vechiles/================================================= Ministry of Homeland Security Rolls Out Armored Vehicles<!-- START CONTENT --> Kurt Nimmo Infowars.com August 9, 2012 <!-- NO_ADS_IN_ARTICLE --> A post today on the Daily Paul website shows a fearsome black “special response team” armored vehicle on a flatbed trailer in transit somewhere in Kentucky. The difference between this military vehicle and previous ones trotted out by the Ministry of Homeland Security is that the words “Immigration and Customs Enforcement” and “Police/Rescue” are missing. Apparently, the pretense of a military response to armed illegal immigrants with RPGs is no longer required. I jest, but not much. Over the last few months, the DHS has purchased millions of rounds of ammunition and an array of state-of-the-art weapons. As Mike Adams notes, the 450 million rounds of ammo purchased by the DHS is enough to wage more than 6 years of Iraq-level combat. The DHS was established after the attacks of September 11, 2001, ostensibly to protect the homeland from terrorist attacks and as a cabinet-level bureaucracy that responds to man-made accidents and natural disasters. Unless the government is expecting al-Qaeda to invade, there is little reason for the existence of this sort of vehicle and the stockpiling of weapons and millions of rounds of ammunition. The only logical conclusion here is that the feds are expecting the American people to revolt. The DHS arsenal is obviously a response to the fact almost half of more than 300 million Americans own guns and a sizable number will resist any attempt by government to confiscate them. As we reported last month, a new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists. The DHS earlier produced a report that conflates these “rightwing extremists” with white supremacists and others who are supposedly recruiting returning veterans. The latest mass shooting psyop in Wisconsin has set in place the narrative that white supremacists — who the government considers indistinguishable from folks suspicious of government – represent a violent threat demanding government response. -------------------------------------------------------
Seems there are all kinds of theories out there...scary ....

They use about 15 million rounds a year, just at one training center. In an eastern Connecticut town there was a "suicide by cop" several days ago. The deceased was hit by gunfire from numerous officers... seven officers were reportedly Placed On Administrative Leave after the incident, pending an investigation for having discharged their firearms on duty. www.theday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130301/NWS04/130309986/1070/NWS12 www.theday.com/article/20130228/NWS04/130229641/1019&town= There are lots of conflicting reports from various witnesses, accounts claim that over 40 shots were fired, and several vehicles and homes that abutted the small parklet where the incident occurred were damaged by gunfire. The deceased, who was alleged to have been armed, despondent and threatening suicide before he was shot, was later discovered to be carrying a non-functioning facsimile of a firearm. It is unclear how many shots actually hit the deceased. So we don't know how many hit and how many missed.

Lonewolf, I was talking with Barack and Joe earlier today and they were asking all about you. They asked me what you looked like, where you live and whether your driveway could support a 50 ton vehicle. Don't worry though, I told them you live on the internets, your name is lonewolf and you look like an animated wolf. Are you sure they took you seriously? Are you really sure?

They use about 15 million rounds a year, just at one training center. Um, it's 1.6 billion bullets, at least some of the order is for hollow-point rounds which are a violation of international law for use in war, along with 2,717 MRAPs- mine-resistant armored vehicles with glass that can resist a .50 caliber round, and gun ports. www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/
The GAO is now investigating the large ammo purchases- in this article, the DHS itself notes it has, before the 1.6 billion rounds, that it currently has a two-year stockpile on hand- 247 million rounds. That makes this proposed purchase roughly a six and a half year pre-purchase. www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/29/gao-now-investigating-large-ammo-purchases-by-dhs/

Oh, so there's never been Congressional testimony by ICE, and a lawsuit filed by ICE agents against the Obama regime for making immigration laws impossible to enforce? And you're denying the Obama regime's innumerable public statements, lawsuits, and executive orders preventing federal agencies and state governments from identifying and detaining illegal aliens? This is all far right wing hype?
