1959 - on slab, brick and cedar shingle exterior. We bought it from the original owners. The wall studs are such dense lumber you have to pre-drill in order to drive a nail. And the roof is decked with 2 x 12's instead of plywood. When we bought it in 1995 we upgraded the electrical, insulated the attic and completely remodeled the interior. Later we replaced the old aluminum windows with double pane. This house has gone through every hurricane to touch Houston in 51 years without any damage.

Current house was built in 1957, with a major addition added in 1992. Overall it's in great shape.
Previous house was built in 1950. One of the foundation walls had a major crack in it that we had to get resupported. (Long story of dishonest previous owners and an inspector who probably didn't tell me the truth. Never should have bought the thing in the first place. I'm still amazed that we managed to sell it.)

Original house built 2001, burned to the ground in 2009, new house built on old foundation in 2010. I love how energy-efficient and modern everything is, though it does have a bit of a cookie-cutter look to it.

1887 The people who built it lived here til they died. Their son moved back in til he died. One other couple owned it for less than a year before we bought it 17 years ago.

1982. Not in bad shape but we've replaced most of the windows. I also just finished scraping the last of the popcorn ceiling texture off yet another room, and am halfway through taking down the ugly wallpaper. It's a typical McMansion and although I'd never go back to NJ house prices, I liked my little postwar tract house there with the hardwood floors. Somehow it felt more solid.
ETA: as I rip out the wallpaper I'm also taking out and patching over the remnants of the Intercom system. We never did figure out how to use it!

1977. Just replaced the original bathroom suite 4 years ago. Kitchen has also been updated and double glazing been put in.

2004. We bought it new, at a big discount, from the builder in 2006.

April 2010. Fortunately, we bought at the low of the market in an area that is importing 7k families as part of BRAC over the next couple years.

1951. Bought it in 2000. Renovated in 2001 and added 300SF. Then another 1,000 SF addition in 2005. Hopefully we are done now at ~3,000 SF.
