every day a "new" form seems to be coming on line.....
Now, let's hope enough taxpayers start to understand that it was Congress who caused these delays, not the IRS.....and maybe those who feel inconvenienced because they cannot get their big refunds will wake up to the fact that waiting to maximizing a refund and not planning to get more money in your weekly paycheck is foolish.....
And I hope the peddlers of "big" refunds and no planning pay the price for their disservice (no advise)

Feb. 14 is the day all the ID thieves have been anxiously anticipating. I'm sure these "gifted students" are primed and ready to transmit all of their fraudulent refund claims for education credit.

"Feb. 14 is the day all the ID thieves have been anxiously anticipating"
very true.... I hope IRS has improved there ability to detect these.... I had three clients in the last few years have their identity stolen..... I was able to "see" IRS transcripts of the returns in the cases (we had attempted to efile and got a reject.... saying a return was already filed.... I got a POA to investigate from my cleint as saw them.... two even noted the PTIN of the preparer.... and all have ridiculous refund claims.... single person living in FL making 35K in wages with 15K in federal withholding..... meanwhile my clients, one has been self employed for 15+ years, another is a doctor making 100+, and the third is a retired school administrator.....
my professional software gives me a this year last year analysis.... when something looks funny I ask why.... IRS has a computer scoring program, you's think it could flag wild swings or unusual changes before the fake 7-8K refund is issused to the criminals.....

I had an executive of a client who had several million dollars in compensation contacted by IRS. The IRS wanted to know why he failed to report a W-2 with $19,000 from a warehouse operator. It turned out an illeagle alien had purchased my client's SSN illeaglly and was using it for employment. IRS asked me to report the situation to Immigration because the "disclosure" rules would take IRS a very long time to process the information from the IRS over to Immigration. Those same disclosure rules popped up in a case of identity theft. The IRS person I was discussing the situation with had to get back to me because she was not sure she could talk to me because the person who filed the return using my clients ID was not the person who signed the POA, that is not my client. ARE THEY KIDDING? As a side note read the bottom of your Social Security card. It CLEARLY STATES "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION". George Orwell was right.

When I was still working for a CPA firm, we had a child support garnishment come in from California on a client's payroll. We did his payroll. Employee said he knew nobody in California and had never been in California. He got more details from California and somebody was using his SSN.
