Clark & ModE, my horse (GEVO) is an honest horse. He advised me tonight that his closing number was $2.34 ( not $2.43). And this puts him in the bottom rung (below ModE). Tomorrow's numbers will change it all anyway. GEVO also told me that if I had entered him last week, he made<BR>about a +20% for the week. I told him don't think about it.......that's unofficial & it's history. LOL

Guess it was my lucky day, actually moved up a notch. TPI still a "dullard", boring, ho-hum stock. Need some real good news. Have to wait until 2/14 for the earnings call, but the preliminary build-up is indicating a "blah" report. Should have sold it all at 0.86 about 10 days ago. Win some, lose some. Fool around with the low-cap China operating stocks and chances are you lose. Risk/reward is precarious.  |

Input wanted: went to the online Portfolio Review program on Schwab & realized that I need an speculative stock and another dividend play. L on the dividend stock. Obviously not great in picking them ----- any suggestions for my real portfolio?

CGA reported this morning.... Ugh, look out below, coming on down. Last place may be mine!  Goodness, Mod, wake up... you ran TPI this week, not quite as bad as CGA, so last place avoided. (Had CGA on my mind, with that almost flat quarterly report, some good, some not so). At least, next quarter projected to be much better. Maybe price will be up enough for me to it. Crazy me, should have avoided those small cap China stocks like the plague. Dummy, dummy, dummy. |

Ombud to find ideas for dividend stocks you could look in the dividend stocks thread. The penny stock thread is the only thread on this board that focuses on speculation.
For my picks on the Pick of the Week threads I've been screening for stocks with an earnings beat the previous quarter plus recent upward earnings estimate revisions. The upward earnings revision can be a powerful short term catalyst in stock price. I developed a screen on stockscreen123 to search for stocks with these criteria (I got the idea for using upward earnings estimate revisions at AAII). I only use stocks that already have a bullish looking chart (see the thread for charts). Once the chart is no longer bullish I will sell. I also use marketedge to help with the technical analysis. Stockscreen123 and MarkEdge are subscription sites with a monthly fee. If you use this idea or ideas from anyone else make sure you understand the premise behind the selections before you use real money to buy the stocks. |
