What are your favorite and least favorite leftovers? Of course we financially frugal types are no stranger to brown bagging and leftovers. So what keeps well and what doesn't for you?

My favorite is something delicious from a restaurant. Most times it's even better the next day. My own cooking - chili and spaghetti sauces get better. And home made soups that I make. <<drool>> Least favorite - anything that is greasy. Especially if bread is involved like with a hamburger or a sub. It's always mushey and gross.

the things I tend to order from restaurants aren't usually better the next day. the last reminder was a pan-fried chicken cutlet topped with prosciutto and fontina cheese - on reheat, the breaded chicken got soggy and the cured prosciutto was cooked so it tasted like ham. I can deal with soggy reheated chicken cutlet, but I had to pitch the prosciutto....I can't stomach cooked ham. for me, if I'm taking leftovers to work, I like soups best. or sandwiches made from roast turkey, after a big turkey dinner holiday. pasta is good for leftovers, as long as it hasn't already been tossed in a red sauce. it dries out too much for me that way. other leftovers, I will freeze large batches of things, so I will thaw out a batch of "leftovers" for dinners. right now, my freezer has a couple days' worth of black bean pulled chicken, kale/bean stew, Becks' potato/leek soup, and a few other things. I pack servings enough to feed me for dinner and the following day's lunch. edit: least favorite leftover? fish, hands down. if it isn't something I can mix up into a cold "salad" with a touch of mayo, it goes in the trash.

Beans, greens, chilis, rice...I simply microwave them and presto! It's all good and better than the day before.
I really can't think of anything that I don't eat that's left over. Even fish. I love it all!

I don't really like leftovers. Although, we bought some smoked meat from the local BBQ joint, and I had a leftover BBQ sandwich as well as taking the meat and making it tacos. So, I guess leftover smoked, shredded meat would be my favorite leftover. And everything else would be closer to least favorite.

Beef stew. The more times you cook it, the better it gets.

I think lasagna is my fave. I find that that nobody seems to want leftover pork chops or pork roast for some reason. I also made too much pasta the other day and the kids don't seem to want that.

I use leftover meat in pasta, omelets, on top of pizza, things like that (just made a chicken cordon bleu pasta with leftover ham and chicken breasts--it was yummy). Made pizza with leftover chicken for dinner last night.
We rarely buy fried chicken, but when we do, we always have leftovers. I put BBQ sauce over the chicken, cover with tin foil, then reheat in the oven--fast, easy BBQ chicken. That's actually how we used to make it in a restaurant for the buffet (and how some chicken restaurants use up their day old fried chicken).
Pasta salad is a good leftover (often made with leftovers). I'll make beef stroganoff or shepherd's pie with leftover hamburger patties (that I made from ground beef--we don't buy pre-made patties).
Leftover BBQ ribs, roast (sometimes turned into stew), baked beans are all really good the next day. I make "hash brown" patties with leftover mashed potatoes, very good with a little butter and some seasoning.
I think I really like my leftovers (of course, a big part of that is because it means less cooking on work nights!)

For leftovers I probably like chicken best. it is SOOOO easy to do a redo - as is, fajitas, quesadeas, stroganoff, BBQ sauced, salad plate, wrap................

Leftover pasta. I heat it up with a little oil in the frying pan, and then add sauce. I don't like sharing leftovers either. If I cook a great meal, I expect to use them for lunch the following days, not share them. I have been known to hide portions before dinner is even served.
