I'm gonna agree to Lady Gaga's tunes. They're great to dance to.
I usually go for the upbeat and catchy tunes. Catchy tunes pump you up. Imagine working out to a soft melody?

Yup punchy uptempo beats. Think Pump Up The Jam. There is a Thread on Music with Work Out tunes in it.

I'm a fan of just about any Rage against the machine song to get you going. Half the time I don't know what they are really talking about, I just know they sound angry, like the dude from linkin park too.
on the other end I like some eminem, missy elliot, and such...

One time, I put on a collection of old Supremes music. I just about hurt myself trying to exercise to that beat.

Some favorites that help me push through: the Faint, VCR, Tub Ring, David Bowie, the Shoes, Die Antwoord. I need stuff with attitude.

How about Pink? I was thinking of getting her CD for working out. I don't have any of her music.

Guns n Roses. Hands down. Would never listen to them otherwise. Not my type of music. But they can sure make me sweat.

Oh yeah, i didn't think about them. I need some new songs for my ipod to work out. I do prefer female singers though. I like No Doubt and Pat Benetar. I also like b 52's. If Rock Lobster doesn't get you going, what will?

Puddle of Mudd has a few good ones, She F***ing Hates Me, Psycho, a few others. I also go for "angry" music. I took a spinning class once where the woman was trying to get us to sprint to Kenny G. I don't think she quite got the point of listening to music to help your workout.

Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle for sure. Those can get me through the end of a run.
Ring of Fire by Social Distortion is good too.

I like anything with drums. Actually my favorite lately has been anything by Genesis. Kid Rock and/or Uncle Kracker have some good tunes as well. On the opposite side I find Mozart helps me really focus on what I'm doing, often my best lifts are when I just have some calm music in my head and few distractions.
Most at the gym assume I'm rocking out in my ear buds, they would be shocked to find out I'm actually listening to some classical, and my hand movements aren't drum beats, I'm conducting.

I listened to Metallica when I was spinning. But listening to any music in general helps me walk/exercise longer.
