Moon and mods, Some of us are not prepared for the change and I myself am not eager as I expect new memory requirements to insure I will only be able to be on from the library after the cut over. So for those of us who aren't as eager, what is the minimum we need to do before the cut over? It appears we all need to create some global account as our current log-in info will no longer cut it. Correct? So if someone could post a summary of what we need to do now it would be extremely helpful. Also, if the cut over does happen before the 16th it would be great if the board overall could be warned at least a day in advance. Until yesterday I didn't realize the 16th was a Wednesday and originally I wasn't planning to deal with this until Oh Thursday. Obviously I need to change my plans. Thanks!

Optimist, you don't actually *have* to do anything before the upgrade. I have been asking people to go do their global id ahead of time though, just so it's done. They've changed their upgrade process though, to make it easier. We recently simplified the entire upgrade process for this exact reason. Too many people couldn't handle the old Upgrade page. Now members will be able to log in with their username and password, just like always. Literally nothing is changing except for the way the login screen looks. But that isn't until you convert your forum, so you can warn all your members as far in advance as you feel you need to. After the upgrade the first time they login they will still go through an upgrade process. They will login with their username and password like normal (we removed the word email entirely from the login page). The upgrade has been simplified to simply visually verifying the email linked to their username and entering a new password (which can be the old one) twice. That's it. We removed the other fields. We removed the requiring an email to login. If a member values security and wants to switch to an email login (which we highly recommend) then they can change the setting on their ProBoards Account settings page. I made you a screenshot of the new Upgrade page. Feel free to use this as a demo to your members for what to expect. However, it seems that the change has created a new bug, which was just reported last night. They haven't fixed it yet, so you can try, but there's a good chance it will fail. if you do try, do NOT create a new account - click login, and use your id (optimist4life) and password from here. As for the possibility of upgrade before Wed, I don't yet know and may not until Monday. I received a PM from Martyn Dale, who is their tech support guy over there. This is the majority of it (bolded/colored emphasis mine): So, what that means is that if it turns out to be us, we may not get much notice at all. I will do my best to give notice if I can, though. If we do it on Wednesday, you can probably figure I will do it early in the morning when I get to work (I start at 6 am) because that time of day there aren't usually too many online and I'd like to minimize impact as much as possible.

Thanks Moon. Given they changed the process so we can keep our IDs perhaps I will just wait until the cut over. I'm glad they've made it so we can log in as normal but know that the changeover is here.

Moonbeam - is that you? I can't tell your handle is all messed up...is Virgil messing with your signature? *sigh* your name and avatar was one constant I used to be able to rely on for this board. Now my whole world is turned upside down...

I like what you done to your nic Moon, in fact I find you easier to locate cause it's different. So that's a plus, kinda, sorta, maybe.
