I get to this one question toward the end of my federal return and it keeps shutting down. Now what? ?

I am on the 9th question. Out of 10. It is asking me about work related expenses. It says checking on a solution.' Then shuts down.

I'm assuming that you've saved the file, so you aren't losing the info when it does that? Also assuming that you are using the Windows version? Have you tried just quitting entirely and restarting the 'puter?
(I'm using TT (Mac) and haven't had any problems - at least not yet...... (fingers crossed)

You'll probably have better luck getting an answer at the TurboTax support site - turbotax.intuit.com/support/index.jsp. Besides searchable topics, they have a "Live Community" which is a forum where you can post your question.

The previous suggestion is a good one. I prepared my return with TT and didn't have any problems. You may have a defective copy.

Happyscooter, do you have a different computer on which you could try to install TT and copy your tax file to in order to continue? This could be some sort of hardware or software incompatibility, maybe. Worth a try ...

Yes, I will try it on another computer. I don't think it will work as I have already installed it here. DH DID ask if I thought that's what made us get hit with the viruses, maybe a defective TT copy. I thought like schildi said 'it wouldn't have installed.' The strange part is, if I try to enter a deduction at a certain part, that's when it shuts down. If I say 'no, I don't have any deductions for that area', it skips over it and keeps going.

Is it installed on your C:\ drive or on an external drive?
Maybe re-installing it would fix it. Perhaps a file got corrupted and it shuts down when trying to access that file.
But I would try installing it on another PC. TurboTax allows you to install TurboTax on all of your home PCs.
