I'm in for the rest of the month, I took a technology break over the holidays and am just now getting back to it. I'll shoot for 5 days, it is a busy time in our house and that may be the most I can manage. Next weekend we are hosting DH's grandpa's 95th birthday party, the following weekend is my dad's side of the family "christmas" lunch, which is a 6 hour round trip. The one nice thing financially was that our CC bill over the holidays was about $600 less than last year! I know about $350 was due to gifts cards I used to buy gifts, not sure what the rest was, but I'll take it. Honey- So happy for you! Cable- Not sure I want to get rid of it, I watch some on regular TV, but most of what I watch is on History and Smithosonian. If i had to give it up I would, plus I'd hate to lose our library of shows for mini-D. Welcome twinmami (sorry if I got that wrong) Shelia- I know what you mean about kids growing constantly. I swear shoes fit fine in the AM and by PM they are too small

Im sorry dont think I did a intro just kind of jumped right in I have 8 year old almost 9 (end of May) twin boys who are in the third grade. They are fraternal very much fraternal down to the personalities. They are my first two and possibly my last two unless by a miracle I met someone nice, get married and have a oops baby lol. Im a single mom their dad lives out of state and they go to visit every summer. Im also active in the Savers group. My goal is to have a down payment for home by July 2014. Im struggling heavily now with keeping under budget. As a matter of fact Im bummed out because I was doing so well but in the last four days I totally ruined the majority of my efforts but Im just going to continue to do better and hopefully get this right.

twinmami - I need to get back into the Savers thread. I kind of dropped off a year ago. We also want to save up for a dp for our next house. The babies are sharing a tiny room but will need their own rooms in a few years because they are boy/girl. you can do it!

Update: 6NSD/4CSD/4Spend
Driday and Sunday were CSDs (as expected). Saturday was an NSD because my friends didn't let me pay for anything. Today is a spend. 1) Realized that the Junebug probably has worms- took stool sample to the vet- $42. 2) Bought an LED light to use for my keyboard. Only $4, but not really planned 3) Bought 1 quart oil for a car, bought jumper cables for car, etc. Car is currently at the dealership and may require a new battery. definitely needs an oil change.
the joy of today's spend is that it is leading to more spend days down the road- meds for June if she does have worms, whatever the service on the car costs, etc. At least my roadside assistance takes care of the tow.

Update: 6NSD/5CSD/4Spend
Yesterday was a CSD as C paid for his parking permit at school. Today will be a CSD as he will be paying his tuition.
Good news: Junebug does not have worms. Also, at first they thought they would need to replace the lift pump on the car- it got downgraded to just the fuel filter.
Bad news: We have no idea why June us losing weight and constantly hungry, as we have not made changes to her schedule. And, we got the fuel filter replaced at a different VW dealership just a few months ago. They charged us considerably less than this dealership is going to.
Trying to decide if we will grocery shop tonight or tomorrow night. Tomorrow we are having a 4y/o overnight guest while her parents are out of town. I kind of like the idea of doing the shopping with her because it gives her an activity that isn't running around our house, and because we need to get used to doing things like shopping with a kid in tow, but it will all depend on everything else we have going on.
Hope you feel better soon, 3cats

Just want to pop in and say hi everyone! Hope you all are healthy and well. Been busy with kids, sick kids, holidays, meetings for my disabled son etc.
Shanen: Is the thyroid of your animal out of wack? That is the only thing I can think of.
I think my 15YO cat had a stroke a week and half ago. He is doing fine now but I am really hoping this is not the beginning of the end. I did not take him to the vet as he had it Friday at 4 pm. We watched him for the weekend and he got a lot better. Now he has some slight issues with his left paw but that is it.

Update: 7 NSD and 8 CSDs
Hope all are doing well. Will check in later when I have a chance to write more. I currently feeling a little under the weather -- no suprise there since I have been living in a cloud for several days. We have had so much fog for such an extended time that I am looking forward to seeing the sun soon, Today was a day of bone chilling damp rain and wind. Till later.

Rocky Mtn. Saver: 5 NSD/5 CSDGood morning boys and girls! The cold weather finally subsided around here (yay!) just in time for me to be moving next week. I do so hate moving. On the other hand, we're getting rid of a lot of stuff, so that's good. And I have been too busy this week to spend any money. So that's a plus. Silver linings, and all...

Update: 7NSD/5CSD/4Spend
C didn't pay tuition yesterday, so it was an NSD. He has already paid for one school thing today, so I'll get him to pay tuition tonight. Plus we need to grocery shop. Today should be a CSD. Tomorrow should be a spend, as we will hopefully be able to go pick our car up from the service station (20+ miles north of us). We're also babysitting a 4y/o and her dog tonight and tomorrow evening, so that's adding fun to the world.

HEY THERE! I"M ALIVE (barely) in case anyone was wondering...
I miss you gals. I was secretly racking up NSD days in January like a champ. I have like 8 but then I went and blew my budget yesterday which completely and totally defeats the purpose. Anything I spend between now and Tuesday (unless I cash in my change/vacation fund jar) will only further bust our budget but my car AND fridge are on empty so the downward spiral continues...*sigh* I will like to start tracking again on Tuesday in hopes of staying on budget.
Until then I'll pop by and get caught up on all the goings on with you gals. Hope everyone is doing well and hugs to all of those who need it.

update: 15/25 NSD. I am feeling much better. My spend day was yesterday for a new router for the computers. I just found out that now we have 4 tablets, 4 laptops and 3 desk top computers. The 5 year old twins and the 13 year old GD got tablets for Christmas. The oldest GS already had one. He bought it himself from working and earning the money. I am glad I am not paying the cable bill because I don't know how that would affect the billing. GS is going to be home schooled on-line because he is being bullied at school. He is being placed in an accellerated class and will graduate before his class. That is better than his dad because he quit school and took GED classes. I have to get things done here for the garbage man. I really want to get the fridge cleaned out so I guess I will work on that.

1/15 NSDHi All, I'd like to join! I'm from the WIRS thread too and decided I wanted to be more active on the boards this year! The NS group looks like a great way for me to track my cash flow since I tend to use my cash allowance up a bit too quickly. I'll be tracking this second half of the month so 15 NS days is my goal, and an NS day will be a day that I don't use from my monthly cash allowance (so if I pay for gas or grocery from my cc allowance and didnt use cash then that is still an NS day) As OMBUD put it, I hope to have cash left in the "envelope" at the end of the month HAPPY NSD Everyone!

Update: 7NSD/6CSD/4Spend
C paid tuition yesterday. With any luck, today will be a spend, and I'll get my car back. We need to grocery shop this weekend. I'd really like to do that today, but between driving 30 miles north to get my car, picking up a friend's daughter from pre-school at 6pm, etc, I don't know that I will be able to make it happen today. I had hoped for a Saturday where I didn't even get out of jammies, but I'm thinking no such luck.
Welcome SaverBee! *waves to AzMom* Hiya

Update: 8 NSD and 9 CSDs
Wanted to update before I begin to hid behind the computer all weekend grading projects. Things are beginning to heat up again on the assignment pileup. At least I do have a three-day weekend to work on them as well as on the laundry and the other weekend routine cards. I have been trying to increase my exercise committment. This week I dod get to the gym a few times in addition to my regular yoga class. I realize that it is a work in progress. I just hope that I can continue going to the gym after school. Toward the end of the week, I just didn't have a chance due to the other errands I had to run. Hoping that I can get there early tomorrow.
Saverbee, Welcome -- Just remember that it takes time to adjust to the NS way of thinking. Also if you have any questions, just ask. I am not on the board as often as others but I do pop in on a regular basis to update my numbers. It keeps me motivated.
Azmom -- It is good to see you back with us. MK -- Any progress on the health front with the kiddos.

I haven't done too well with a no spend thread this month. I hope to do better next month. I had some repairs to auto, things to send that were gifts. I hope my main expense next month will be trip to Houston. I took vacation twice in 4 week, and wound up sick both times.

Hello, I don't mean to barge in and promote myself but I am hosting a giveaway on my blog and it didn't get the response I was looking for which is good for you. I am giving away a $37 Amazon or Starbucks (your choice) Gift Card in honor of my recent 37th birthday. There are only 12 entries so your chance is GREAT. Here is the link if you are interested: anotherhousewife.com/?p=3476I'm off to my son's baseball game...some things never change

Good morning all! We picked up our new dog yesterday, right in the middle of packing to move. Great timing, huh? She's an adult Maltese from a local rescue organization. Super sweet! Although I don't think the cat is nearly as fond of the dog as the humans are! LOL, actually they are getting along much better than I'd feared. The dog doesn't seem particularly interested in the cat, and at least the cat isn't hiding under the bed all day. Small miracles! Rocky Mtn Saver: 8 CSD/7 NSD

mitten - sorry your cat isn't doing so well. Hopefully it was a one-time thing.
rocky - yay new dog!!
azmom - great to hear from you!
saverbee - welcome!
yesterday was a spend but today will be a NS. I really stink at tracking them lately. Maybe it'll be easier when I'm back at work. Two weeks of maternity leave left to go, and babies start daycare in one week. I know it's going to be rough (for me, not them). I've really enjoyed being home with them.
